Is Reportedly Being Released From Prison In A \u2018Few\u2019 Weeks\" class=\"large\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"news-caption\"><span>Annette Brown\/Getty Images<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"body-copy js-entry-text \" itemprop=\"articleBody\">B.G. may be leaving the California prison where he\u2019s currently serving out the remaining few months of a 14-year sentence earlier than expected.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/onsmash.com\/music\/birdman-talks-bg-prison-release-november-2022-story\/\">Reports have surfaced online<\/a> that, during a recent IG Live session, Birdman announced that his Cash Money Records prot\u00e9g\u00e9 is set to be released in a few weeks. That would mean B.G. (real name Christopher Dorsey)\u00a0could be a free man about a year earlier than his last reported projected release date of April 7, 2024.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit200\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><em>HipHopDX<\/em> has reached out to representatives for B.G. to confirm the updated release date.<\/p>\n<p>In late September, U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan rejected a motion submitted by another federal prisoner, requesting to have the Hot Boy r<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er\u2019s 14-year sentence commuted.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit300\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Titled \u201cThe Court Misconstrued Defendant\u2019s Motion,\u201d the September request argued that a letter submitted to the courts in 2021 wasn\u2019t intended to be a legal motion, but rather an attempt to raise awareness about B.G.\u2019s displeasure with how his attorney had handled a previous compassionate release motion.<\/p>\n<p>The letter encouraged the court to reconsider him for a compassionate release and asked for the 2021 denial not to be held against him. In her decision, issued three days after the 2022 motion was submitted, Judge Morgan stated that the rapper \u201chas offered no new evidence that would affect the Court\u2019s prior decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit400\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Morgan had previously denied a motion submitted by B.G. in June, which was supported by letters from Birdman, Slim, Wendy Day and Gary Payton, Sr., among others.<\/p>\n<p>B.G.\u2019s first request for an early release this year came in February, after the entire Bureau of Prisons system went into lockdown due to violence in USP Beaumont. At the time, he wrote that \u201cmurder and mayhem\u201d were normal occurrences in federal facility where he was being held and that the public had no idea what was really going on behind prison walls.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit500\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>He also claimed his health issues make him more susceptible to COVID-19, chiding his previous attorney for \u201cincompetence\u201d and refuted prosecutors\u2019 attempts to \u201cpaint him as a violent individual due to his rap lyrics, adding that the only thing he\u2019s ever killed was a microphone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Morgan explained she did \u201cnot find any gross neglect that affected the outcome of Dorsey\u2019s second motion for compassionate release,\u201d meaning he\u2019ll have to complete his sentence.<\/p>\n<p>B.G.\u2019s original 14-year sentence was handed down in July 2012 after the rapper pleaded guilty\u00a0to being a felon in possession of a firearm, and obstructed justice by convincing an associate to claim ownership of the gun.<\/p>\n<p>Following the sentencing, B.G. released statement in which he indicated that he was approaching his time in prison with a positive mindset.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit600\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI am relieved I found out what my fate was yesterday because I was facing 30 years and my case kept getting pushed back,\u201d the statement read. \u201cI am just ready to get my sentence started because it\u2019s not RIP BG it\u2019s FREE BG.
