White, rich boy justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/face-biting-221128-10.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24815822\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/face-biting-221128-10.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/face-biting-221128-10.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/face-biting-221128-10.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Harrouff, who attacked the couple in their garage, will now be sent to a mental hospital rather than a jail cell \u2014 and could be released outright if he\u2019s no longer deemed a threat to others.<\/p>\n<p>Harrouff and his parents, including his dentist father, Wade Harouff, asserted that he was mentally ill at the time of the incident and his attorneys issued a not guilty plea.<\/p>\n<p>Victim families angrily rejected that portrayal, arguing that Harrouff was a coddled drug addict who was cognizant of the crime he committed.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Sherwood Bauer told the court that both Martin County prosecutors and Harrouff\u2019s high-priced defense team agreed to nix a trial in favor of the plea accord.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t really know you could brutally murder two people, attempt to kill another, and not even have a trial,\u201d said Jodi Bruce, another sister of Mishcon, in a statement to the court Monday. \u201cThat was <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harrouff\u2019s insanity defense hinged largely on FBI toxicology results that showed no drugs in his system after the crime and determinations from three doctors that he had had a severe psychotic break.<\/p>\n<p>Cindy Mishcon mocked that narrative Monday, and read from a long list of text messages Harrouff wrote in the months and days leading up to the slayings.<\/p>\n<p>Harrouff catalogued his almost daily drug use and frequent blackouts in the correspondence, telling friends that he drank heavily and indulged in cocaine, pre<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; He went from a happy person to, he can\u2019t sleep, pacing the floors. He could barely work, he was tired. There\u2019s no question that he had mental problems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harrouff\u2019s father also highlighted that his son drank some sort of \u201ccaustic\u201d chemical after the murders as evidence of his mental instability.<\/p>\n<p>In rebutting that framing, Mishcon noted that Harrouf\u2019s father bought him the knife he used in the killings at a gun show the day before the crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe let you buy a knife when he thought you were crazy?\u201d Mishcon said Monday. \u201cIt\u2019s just not believable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The grieving sister said she was baffled by the reluctance of the state attorney\u2019s office to pursue the case further.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI ask myself, why are we here today?\u201d she said. \u201cWhy is there no trial? Why is my family being denied justice?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bruce mocked the lawyers sitting at the prosecution table Monday after her sibling\u2019s lengthy address to the court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy sister just put on the case for you,\u201d she said. \u201cThat is sad. They are obligated to do that in every single case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also rejected the argument that Harrouff\u2019s high-price lawyers tipped the legal scales, noting that most insanity defenses are brought on behalf of indigent defendants by legal aid attorneys.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a sad case,\u201d Bauer said. \u201cIt\u2019s an awful case. But nobody is losing sight \u2014 i can tell you I\u2019m not \u2014 in the death and injuries that were sustained in the case. But when it all gets said and done, the state and the defense have made a determination that mental intent was not formulated. That it wasn\u2019t there.
