It is a sixth-generation aircraft, which Northrop Corporate President Tom Jones said is \u201coptimized for operations in highly contested environments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The plane, according to Northrop\u2019s website, is designed to perform long-range conventional and nuclear missions.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>The estimated cost to develop, purchase and operate 100 aircraft is estimated at $203 billion, or about $2 billion per plane.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the company has six aircraft being\u00a0assembled in Palmdale\u00a0and the first B-21 is set to take flight sometime in 2023, depending on ground test results.<\/p>\n<p>The unveiling on Friday is by invitation only.<\/p>\n<p>Northrop Grumman Corp develops and manufactures advanced aircraft systems.
