Roberts, 50 cited \u2018Pac and Em as perfect examples of how race influences one\u2019s perspective, even when tackling the same subject, comparing the rappers\u2019 respective odes to their mothers, \u201cDear Mama\u201d and \u201cCleanin\u2019 Out My Closet,\u201d to illustrate his point.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit200\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll pick two Hip Hop artists that have been profound and really prolific artists within our culture that were very similar but tapped into different responses,\u201d he said. \u201cSo Eminem\u2019s mom, the drug usage was part of it and he would do: <em>\u2018Sorry, momma \/ I never meant to hurt you \/ I never meant to make you cry \/ But tonight, I\u2019m cleaning out my closet.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then 2Pac\u2019s mom also has some drug usage involved in her experience, and he said: <em>\u2018Even though you was a crack fiend, momma \/ You always was a Black Queen, mama.\u2019<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit300\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>He continued: \u201cI think the tones of anger and the difference in the two of them are that Em\u2019s anger is coming from things were supposed to be right, and 2Pac\u2019s statement almost has terms of endearment in there because he\u2019s like, \u2018Well, we still all had.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe expectations of things going right from a white American perspective versus accepting the idea of things not going right from an African-American perspective are what make the difference in the tones of those records.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"50 Cent &quot;This Is The Difference Between Eminem vs. Tupac&quot;\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RomFq_oi7Uo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>50 Cent went on to heap high praise on Eminem, who signed him to his Shady Records imprint alongside Dr. Dre\u2019s Aftermath Entertainment in 2002 and has remained a close friend and collaborator ever since. 50 credited Em for helping him push beyond the commercial plateau that 2Pac, coincidentally, set in the \u201990s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love Em and I don\u2019t think people credit him for everything. The growth of our culture should be also a trophy for Eminem,\u201d he said. \u201cMe personally and my career is a reflection of my association to Em. Prior to my record coming out, the most I\u2019ve seen a Black male solo Hip Hop artist sell was five million copies on 2Pac\u2019s <em>All Eyez On Me<\/em>. It was a double CD, it was the first I saw something go diamond.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit400\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cAnd to have my first album sell 13 million records, if you discredit or disassociate that fact that I\u2019m in association to Eminem who\u2019s selling 23 million records on <em>The Marshall Mathers LP<\/em>, you just a fucking idiot \u2026 I don\u2019t think that they actually credit more people being involved in the culture and willing to consume it and make purchases [because of Eminem].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cI love him to death \u2026 He\u2019s in a tight second spot in my life for people who\u2019ve done things for me that they didn\u2019t have to behind my grandmother taking care of me and looking out for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite 50 Cent\u2019s belief about their different outlooks, Eminem has frequently cited 2Pac as a major influence on his career. In 2020, he crowned the late rap legend the \u201cgreatest songwriter of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis next song is from an artist who I feel like might be the greatest songwriter of all time,\u201d he said while cuing up Pac\u2019s 1995 song \u201cIf I Die Tonight\u201d on Shade45 radio. \u201cDebate what you want about MC skills and all that, because he had that too. This is one of them songs by 2Pac that, to me, he was showing you, \u2018I can write heartfelt shit and I can write lyrical, crazy shit too.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>\u2018They say pussy and paper is poetry, power and pistols \/ Plotting on murdering muthafuckas \u2018fore they get you\u2019<\/em> \u2014 like, the play on the \u2018p\u2019 words and all that shit and how he was doing it was so crazy. Mixed with the feel that 2Pac could give you, which is constantly why I feel like he was saying, \u2018Can you feel me?\u2019 Because you felt \u2018Pac.
