Is that the case?\u201d Colbert asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think we ever were liberal,\u201d Lemon replied.<\/p>\n<p>Lemon\u2019s answer drew a surprised response from Colbert, who replied, \u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, I don\u2019t think we ever were,\u201d Lemon insisted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot me saying that, that\u2019s the people out there saying that he\u2019s not letting you be liberal anymore,\u201d Colbert said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/don-lemon-colbert-007.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Don Lemon\" class=\"wp-image-24825386\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/don-lemon-colbert-007.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/don-lemon-colbert-007.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/don-lemon-colbert-007.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Don Lemon surprised Colbert by claiming CNN was never liberal.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">CBS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lemon argued that Licht\u2019s directive for CNN is to remake the ratings-challenged network as an open forum for debate for both sides of the political aisle, rather than an active departure from its liberal past.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think what Chris is saying is that he wants Republicans \u2014 sensible Republicans,\u201d Lemon said. \u201cHe wants us to hold people to account, but he wants people to come on and feel comfortable with coming on and talking on CNN and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earing on CNN.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, if you invite someone in your house, you want to make them comfortable. But also, by the nature of what we do, we have to hold people to account,\u201d Lemon added. \u201cThat doesn\u2019t necessarily mean that we\u2019re going liberal or conservative or whatever.
