Google Chrome 108 added an \u201cEnergy Saver\u201d mode for Chrome on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chromebooks. We\u2019ll show you how it works.<\/p>\n<p>As the name implies, \u201cEnergy Saver\u201d is a special mode designed to stretch battery life a little longer. It does this by limiting background activity, visual effects, and video frame rates. Chrome will feel a little less polished, but you\u2019ll get some extra juice out of your computer.<\/p>\n<p>As of the release of Chrome 108 on November 29, 2022, Energy Saver is behind a Chrome feature flag. We\u2019ll need to enable that before we can use it. Let\u2019s get started.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_warning\"><p><strong>Warning:<\/strong> Chrome flags are hidden for a reason. They may not work correctly and they can negatively impact your browser\u2019s performance. We checked for it on three devices running Chrome 108, and while the \u201cPerformance\u201d tab appeared on all three, the feature was only present on one.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That\u2019s all there is to it. You won\u2019t have to restart the browser every time you switch these settings. It\u2019s a very similar feature to Battery Saver mode on Android devices.
