\n Australians went outside to play in the snow Saturday, marveling at a surprise spring storm that dropped more than 3 feet in the mountains of several states.<\/p>\n

Antarctic air triggered heavy snow and winds wild enough to close some roads at higher altitudes in New South Wales, Victoria, the Australia Capital Territory and the island state of Tasmania, Reuters reported.<\/p>\n

Locals flooded social media<\/a> with pictures of snow-covered towns and snowy woods.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen light #snow make it to #Canberra today, and yes even heard a few rogue flakes landed on Parliament House,\u201d in the nation\u2019s capital, the Bureau of Meteorology tweeted, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n

The bureau is predicting that the cold weather will keep the snow around for several days in the alpine regions \u2014 much to the delight of Raj Kumar, who had travel<\/a>ed with his family from Sydney to New South Wales\u2019 Blue Mountains.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s awesome,\u201d Kumar told the Seven Network.<\/p>\n
