Originally slated for a December 2 release, the record is now live on all major streaming platforms. It comprises 13 reworks of songs by legendary musical multi-hyphenate Ryuichi Sakamoto from 13 different artists, including Thundercat, Devont\u00e9 Hynes (Blood Orange), Fennesz, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.corneliusjapan.com\/\">Cornelius<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.davidsylvian.com\/\">David Sylvian<\/a>, and Sakamoto\u2019s frequent collaborator <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/alvanoto.com\/\">Alva Noto<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            Led by Thundercat\u2019s cover of Sakamoto\u2019s 1978 classic \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dV8wdoQKKvM\">Thousand Knives<\/a>,\u201d the record was announced after Sakamoto shared the tragic <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> that the rectal cancer he\u2019d been battling with since January 2021 (his second cancer diagnosis) had <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.japantimes.co.jp\/culture\/2022\/06\/07\/music\/sakamoto-cancer\/\">progressed to stage four in June<\/a>.
