volume of videos unmasking the unrest in the secretive nation \u2014 as fed-up residents protest the government\u2019s draconian COVID lockdown rules.  <\/p>\n<p>The feared censorship regime can\u2019t take down footage of the heated demonstrations fast enough \u2014 while crafty protestors are also using tricks to evade their systems, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/11\/30\/business\/china-protests-censorship-video.html?partner=slack&amp;smid=sl-share\">the New York Times reported Wednesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a decisive breach of the big silence,\u201d Xiao Qiang, a researcher on internet freedom at the University of California, Berkeley, told the publication.<\/p>\n<p>Videos of demonstrators clashing with police, or holding up black sheets of paper in defiance, have been circulating on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> for days \u2014 an atypical and brave display of resistance in authoritarian China.<\/p>\n<p>Footage posted to Twitter on Tuesday show dozens of riot police in Guangzhou moving in formation towards torn-down lockdown barriers as protestors threw objects at them.<\/p>\n<p>Other videos showed police deploying tear gas in the city\u2019s Haizhu district.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Communist Party\u2019s top law enforcement authority vowed in a statement Tuesday that China would crack down on \u201cthe infiltration and sabotage activities of hostile forces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission also said it would not tolerate \u201cillegal and criminal acts that disrupt social order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the protest videos keep circulating. <\/p>\n<p>According to Qiang, China\u2019s reliance on automation to censor its citizens online has, in part, made it difficult to clamp down on the social media resistance \u2014 as incidents were filmed from multiple angles with multiple chances to go viral.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce the anger spills on to the street it becomes much harder to censor,\u201d Qiang said.<\/p>\n<p>One former Chinese censor told the New York Times that Beijing would need to hire many more minders \u2014 and develop more sophisticated surveillance algorithms \u2014 if it wanted to stem the torrent of videos being spread online.<\/p>\n<p>Protestors have also discovered workarounds \u2014 adding filters, or making videos of videos playing on other devices \u2014 in a cunning and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arently successful bid to outwit state censors.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" like Instagram and Twitter, which are banned from China\u2019s internet.<\/p>\n<p>Reports over the weekend said police in China were confiscating cell phones, looking for photos or videos from protests, and deleting them \u2014 along with any VPN software.<\/p>\n<p>The days of defiance were sparked by a deadly fire last week in the far western city of Urumqi, in which rescue efforts were reportedly hampered by the country\u2019s strict COVID lockdown restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>The city had been under COVID lockdown for 100 days.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img protests, nominally about Chinese leader Xi Jinping\u2019s so-called zero-COVID policy of intense lockdowns to stop the spread of the pandemic, have become a referendum on Xi\u2019s grip on power.<\/p>\n<p>The leader recently broke with China\u2019s Communist Party tradition and appointed himself to a third term at the nation\u2019s helm.<\/p>\n<p>Though the government has yet to acknowledge the demands of the protesters, the cities of Guangzhou and Chongqing announced an easing of certain COVID quarantine rules on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image \u2014 which some have seen as a harbinger of changing lockdown policies.<\/p>\n<p>Only two-thirds of Chinese over the age of 80 have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and less than half are
