At least $1 billion in customer funds had vanished, the people said.<\/p>\n<p>Bankman-Fried told Reuters\u00a0the company did not \u201csecretly transfer\u201d but rather misread its \u201cconfusing internal labeling.<\/p>\n<p>FTX filed for bankruptcy and\u00a0Bankman-Fried stepped down as chief executive on Nov. 11, after traders pulled $6 billion from the platform in three days and rival exchange Binance abandoned a rescue deal.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/sam-bankman-fried-5.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Sam Bankman-Fried \" class=\"wp-image-24848606\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/sam-bankman-fried-5.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/sam-bankman-fried-5.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/sam-bankman-fried-5.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>FTX filed for bankruptcy and Bankman-Fried stepped down as chief executive on Nov. 11.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBy late on Nov. 6 we were putting together all of the data\u2026that obviously should have been part of the dashboards I was always looking at\u2026and when we looked at that, there was a serious problem there,\u201d\u00a0Bankman-Fried said.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Bankman-Fried added that he \u201cdidn\u2019t ever try to commit fraud\u201d and that he doesn\u2019t personally think he has any criminal liability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe real answer is that\u2019s not what I\u2019m focusing on. There\u2019s going to be a time and place for me to sort of think about myself and my own future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The implosion of FTX marked a stunning\u00a0fall from grace\u00a0for the 30-year-old entrepreneur who rode a cryptocurrency boom to a net worth that Forbes pegged a year ago at $26.5 billion. After launching FTX in 2019, he became an influential political donor and pledged to donate most of his earnings to charities.<\/p>\n<p>Since FTX filed for bankruptcy,\u00a0Bankman-Fried has distanced himself from the image he projected in <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> interviews and on Capitol Hill, telling a Vox reporter his advocacy for a crypto regulatory framework was \u201cjust PR\u201d and his discussions on ethics within the industry were at least partly a front.<\/p>\n<p>Bankman-Fried said he was \u201cconfused\u201d as to why FTX\u2019s US entity is not processing customer withdrawals. Redemptions are currently paused for both US and international customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo my knowledge all American customers and all American regulated businesses here are, I think at least in terms of client assets, are okay,\u201d he said, adding that derivatives contracts at one of its US subsidiaries were \u201cfully collateralized.\u201d\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
