At the time, the company assured the public that no customer data had been compromised. Now, it\u2019s changing its story.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/lastpass.wo8g.net\/c\/156932\/565400\/8692?subId1=rg&amp;subId2=137819&amp;sharedid=&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.lastpass.com%2F2022%2F11%2Fnotice-of-recent-security-incident%2F&amp;subId3=xid:{xid}&amp;___trxnet=ir\">blog post<\/a> dated November 30th, LastPass CEO Karim Toubba informed customers that \u201can unauthorized party \u2026 was able to gain access to certain elements of our customer\u2019s information.\u201d The CEO didn\u2019t specify what type of information was compromised in the blog post. However, he assured customers that their passwords were safe as the company\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/lastpass.wo8g.net\/c\/156932\/565400\/8692?subId1=rg&amp;subId2=137819&amp;sharedid=&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.lastpass.com%2Fsecurity%2Fzero-knowledge-security&amp;subId3=xid:{xid}&amp;___trxnet=ir\">Zero Knowledge architecture<\/a> protects them.<\/p>\n<p>The Zero Knowledge <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> employed by LastPass means that no plain-text passwords are stored on company servers and that only customers can access their unencrypted passwords.<\/p>\n<p>Toubba explained that while customer data was not accessed during the August attack, information that the hackers obtained was subsequently used to get customer info. The CEO went on to assure his client base that the company is working hard to understand the full scope of the breach and is deploying enhanced security measures and closely monitoring for any further attacks.<\/p>\n<p>The admission is surely an embarrassment for LastPass, but it\u2019s not the first time in recent memory the company has suffered a massive security breach.
