That status remains unchanged as we are bound by State statute,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>Shaheen\u2019s colleague, Maggie Hassan echoed those concerns, saying: \u201cI strongly oppose the President\u2019s deeply misguided proposal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut make no mistake,\u201d Hassan continued. \u201cNew Hampshire\u2019s law is clear and our primary will continue to be first in the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep. The Iowa caucuses, which have been the first contest since 1972, are not considered a \u201csimilar election\u201d for these purposes.<\/p>\n<p>Other states have previously tried to violate party rules and jump closer to the front, only to be threatened with having their delegates not count toward their chosen candidate clinching the party\u2019s nomination.<\/p>\n<p>The DNC had no im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te response to the statements by Shaheen, Hassan and Kuster.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter to Democrats on Thursday, Biden, 80, cited the need for more diversity in the nominating process as the impetus for the calendar change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must ensure that voters of color have a voice in choosing our nominee much earlier in the process and throughout the entire early window,\u201d Biden\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/democrats.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/DNC_Letter.pdf\">wrote<\/a>\u00a0in letter to members of the DNC\u2019s Rules and Bylaws Committee.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlack voters in particular have been the backbone of the Democratic Party but have been pushed to the back of the early primary process. We rely on these voters in elections but have not recognized their importance in our nominating calendar. It is time to stop taking these voters for granted, and time to give them a louder and earlier voice in the process.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following the first three contests, the Democrats\u2019 tentative plan would be to hold Georgia\u2019s presidential primary on Feb. 20, 2024, followed by Michigan on Feb. 27.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican National Committee has already said that its first four nominating contests would be held in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina, following the traditional order.<\/p>\n<p><em>With Post wires<\/em>\n                        <\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
