kicked off the 2024 presidential election campaign\u00a0season\u00a0when he became the first major candidate to announce a White House bid just a week after the midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has been the unequivocal leader of the Republican Party since he was first elected president in 2016, but\u00a0he\u00a0has garnered blame from many\u00a0opponents\u00a0and allies for the party\u2019s dis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointing performance in the midterms.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Several\u00a0noteworthy\u00a0Republicans\u00a0have hinted that they are considering running for president in the aftermath of the midterms\u00a0and\u00a0indicated\u00a0a\u00a0willingness to oppose\u00a0Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s where\u00a0other potential Republican 2024 presidential candidates\u00a0stand in their possible White House\u00a0bids.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Liz_Cheney\"><\/span><strong>Liz Cheney<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo.)\u00a0emerged\u00a0as one of the top GOP critics of Trump in the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection\u00a0and has served as the vice chairwoman of the House select committee investigating the attack and the former president\u2019s role in it.<\/p>\n<p>Cheney said after she lost her primary race to a Trump-backed challenger\u00a0in August\u00a0that she was \u201cthinking about\u201d\u00a0running\u00a0for president. She told Politico in an interview that she\u00a0hadn\u2019t\u00a0decided whether her run would be\u00a0in a Republican primary or as an Independent.<\/p>\n<p>The outgoing congresswoman\u00a0said\u00a0at The Washington Post\u2019s Global Woman\u2019s Summit last month that she is \u201cconfident\u201d Trump will never be president again. She said in September\u00a0that she will not remain in the party if Trump wins the Republican nomination.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Chris_Christie\"><\/span><strong>Chris Christie<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie\u00a0was a Trump ally\u00a0during\u00a0the 2016\u00a0and 2020\u00a0elections\u00a0but split with him\u00a0after\u00a0the end of the 2020 race and\u00a0has become\u00a0increasingly\u00a0vocal\u00a0about his opposition to Trump, most recently blaming the former president for the GOP\u2019s performance in the midterms.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>His recent remarks come after many Trump-backed candidates who were considered weaker <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> election choices lost in key races. Their defeats led to Democrats holding onto their majority in the Senate and Republicans only winning narrow control of the House.<\/p>\n<p>Christie said during an appearance on \u201cReal Time with Bill Maher\u201d in October that he was\u00a0not ruling out\u00a0running for president a second time, his first being in 2016.\u00a0He said at the time that he wanted to see what happens in the midterms to\u00a0determine\u00a0if a non-Trump candidate can win the nomination.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ted_Cruz\"><\/span><strong>Ted Cruz<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Texas Sen. Ted Cruz was a chief opponent of Trump during the Republican primaries in 2016 but\u00a0emerged\u00a0as one of his closest allies in the Senate during his administration. However, Cruz has hinted that he will consider a challenge to Trump in 2024.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>He said at the Republican Jewish Coalition\u2019s annual meeting last month that he is running for a third term to the Senate in 2024\u00a0but punted on the question of whether he should be considered a possible presidential candidate, saying there will be \u201cplenty of time\u201d to discuss the election.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ron_DeSantis\"><\/span><strong>Ron DeSantis<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R)\u00a0has consistently placed in second in hypothetical GOP primary polls throughout this year, but\u00a0polling since the midterms has shown him closing the gap with Trump even further \u2014 or in some cases leading.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis led Trump in\u00a0polls\u00a0in head-to-head matchups\u00a0of\u00a0four key\u00a0states\u00a0\u2014 Iowa, New Hampshire,\u00a0Florida\u00a0and Georgia\u00a0\u2014 last month.\u00a0And his support\u00a0rose\u00a011 points\u00a0in a Harvard CAPS-Harris\u00a0national\u00a0poll\u00a0last month\u00a0from\u00a0one\u00a0taken the prior\u00a0month, though Trump still led by double digits.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Analysts have pointed to the Florida governor as a big winner of the midterms, as he easily glided to victory in his reelection bid by 20 points, and Republicans in the state performed well up and down the ballot.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis himself has remained mostly quiet on any potential presidential ambitions\u00a0and has avoided direct confrontations with Trump.\u00a0But he\u00a0criticized\u00a0the Republican Party\u2019s \u201chuge underperformance\u201d in the midterms and pointed to Florida as showing the party \u201chow it\u2019s done\u201d at a press conference on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s also set to\u00a0release\u00a0a memoir in late February entitled \u201cThe Courage to Be Free:\u00a0Florida\u2019s Blueprint for America\u2019s Revival,\u201d which will be\u00a0about his formative years and time serving in the military and the government. Book releases\u00a0have often\u00a0accompanied\u00a0candidates announcing presidential runs.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Nikki_Haley\"><\/span><strong>Nikki Haley<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley\u00a0initially said that she would not run\u00a0for the presidency if Trump\u00a0made\u00a0a third bid for the White House. But she has changed her tune since the midterms.<\/p>\n<p>She said at the Republican Jewish Coalition meeting last month\u00a0that she will look at running \u201cin a serious way\u201d now that the midterms are over.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I\u2019ve never lost an election,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd I\u2019m not\u00a0gonna\u00a0start now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Haley, who also previously served as governor of South Carolina, said at an event at Clemson University earlier this week that she will\u00a0take time\u00a0during the holidays\u00a0to look at the \u201csituation.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Larry_Hogan\"><\/span><strong>Larry Hogan<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan\u00a0has been a vocal Republican critic of Trump since the former president launched his first White House run, refusing to vote for him in 2016 and considering a primary challenge to him in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Hogan\u00a0did not deny\u00a0a characterization\u00a0that he was a\u00a0rumored\u00a02024 contender during an\u00a0appearance\u00a0on CNN\u2019s \u201cState\u00a0of the Union\u201d\u00a0last month, saying he thinks the \u201clane is much wider now\u201d than it was weeks earlier.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Hogan, a moderate Republican who easily won the governorship in a solidly blue state, said the GOP needs to widen its appeal \u201clike I\u2019ve done in Maryland.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Asa_Hutchinson\"><\/span><strong>Asa Hutchinson<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson\u00a0has called on the GOP to move on from the \u201cTrump era\u201d\u00a0and said that the party needs\u00a0more voices\u00a0of \u201creality\u201d in the aftermath of the midterms.\u00a0He said he supports criticism that Trump has received from onetime allies following the election.<\/p>\n<p>Hutchinson said in an\u00a0interview\u00a0on \u201cCNN This Morning\u201d last month that he is \u201cvery seriously\u201d looking at running, saying he is planning to\u00a0decide\u00a0in January.\u00a0He said he does not think Trump could win in a Republican primary since he is a \u201cknown quantity\u201d spreading \u201cchaos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m encouraged that a governor who\u2019s\u00a0actually solved\u00a0problems, who has a conservative, commonsense approach, can draw support and can be a good alternative,\u201d Hutchinson said.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mike_Pence\"><\/span><strong>Mike Pence<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Trump has sharply criticized former Vice President Mike Pence since his refusal to go along with the former president\u2019s attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.\u00a0Pence has been critical of Trump\u2019s role in the insurrection\u00a0and has made several\u00a0notable\u00a0public appearances ahead of a rumored presidential run.<\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ed to early primary states like Iowa and New Hampshire to campaign with Republican candidates ahead of the midterms and has given speeches outlining his vision for the\u00a0party.<\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0said\u00a0\u201cthere\u00a0might be somebody else I prefer more\u201d when asked, at a Georgetown University event in October, if he would vote for Trump again.<\/p>\n<p>Pence said in an interview with ABC\u2019s David Muir after the midterms that he expects \u201cbetter choices\u201d than Trump for the GOP nomination in the future\u00a0and also\u00a0met\u00a0with CNN\u2019s Jake Tapper for a town hall to promote his new book.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\"><\/aside>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mike_Pompeo\"><\/span><strong>Mike Pompeo<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo remained loyal to Trump throughout his presidency but has\u00a0indicated\u00a0an interest in running despite the former president\u2019s own plans.<\/p>\n<p>Pompeo\u00a0told\u00a0conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on the day that Trump announced his candidacy that the announcement\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0affect his own\u00a0decisionmaking\u00a0about whether to run.\u00a0He called for \u201cmore seriousness\u201d and \u201cless noise\u201d in the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need leaders that are looking forward, not staring in the rearview mirror claiming victimhood,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Pompeo tweeted after Trump\u2019s announcement that the GOP is \u201ctired of losing\u201d despite Trump\u2019s claims that it would become \u201ctired of winning.\u201d\u00a0His tweet came ahead of his appearance at the Republican Jewish Coalition meeting, where many rumored GOP presidential candidates made remarks.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
