“#\u2018Defund de Blasio\u2019: Hundreds gather outside City Hall to protest the mayor<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n They can\u2019t stand Mayor Bill de Blasio\u2019s policies on school openings, homelessness, crime, bail reform, small business and street-protest looters \u2014 but most of all, they can\u2019t stand him<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Some 300 anti-de Blasio protesters, more than some of Hizzoner\u2019s presidential campaign crowds, gathered in front of City Hall Park on Saturday to demand he either fix things or step down.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd if you cannot do that,\u201d organizer Scott Lobaido told the crowd, \u201cwe call on our Governor Cuomo because we know you can\u2019t stand this man either.<\/p>\n

\u201cRid us of this human waste of a mayor.\u201d<\/p>\n

The protesters carried signs reading, \u201cStep Down de Blasio,\u201d \u201cDefund de Blasio\u201d and \u201cHey, de Blasio \u2014 F\u2013k Me? No, F\u2013k You!\u201d<\/p>\n

They shouted \u201cLock him up!\u201d and \u201cImpeach him now!\u201d and blared Twisted Sister\u2019s \u201cWe\u2019re Not Gonna Take It.\u201d<\/p>\n

A highlight of the rally was when Lobaido, who is also an artist, pulled a sheet off of his hand-painted portrait of Hizzoner, unveiling it to the crowd.<\/p>\n

Entitled \u201cAsshole,\u201d the portrait depicted the rear end of a donkey.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook what he\u2019s done to this city,\u201d agreed Police Benevolence Association Vice President Vinny Vallelong.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s gone through three police commissioners. None of you should be worried about your parents, grandparents or even children going to any store to get bread, milk, and having to worry about them getting assaulted with gun violence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMurders are up in this city, burglaries are up, grand larceny, nothing, he\u2019s doing nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis, R-Brooklyn, Staten Island, who once ran against de Blasio, cracked, \u201cDon\u2019t blame me. I didn\u2019t vote for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt breaks my heart to see this city being destroyed,\u201d she said. \u201cIt breaks my heart to see what our mayor is doing on every front.\u201d<\/p>\n

A fourth-generation New Yorker, Lobaido told demonstrators he was there to describe \u201chow twisted my onions are over this mayor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis rally is for you, the working man, the business owner, the elderly couple who can\u2019t go to the park anymore because the criminals are running rampant and they\u2019re going to get their heads cracked open,\u201d Lobaido shouted to the crowd.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis rally is for that black family that owns a restaurant, that Jewish guys that owns a business,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat Spanish single mother who is trying to figure out how to get her kids back to school safely and how to get back to her two jobs,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight this sinking ship,\u201d he demanded of the mayor, \u201cor take a page from the thousands who are abandoning New York City, and just go away.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know you all know the list, but just to piss you off a little more I\u2019m going to throw in a few more at you,\u201d Lobaido told the crowd, most of whom did not wear masks.<\/p>\n

\u201cBail reform. Giving these criminals Mets tickets,\u201d he said of a much-criticized initiative that used free movie and ball game<\/a> tickets to entice defendants into returning for court app<\/a>earances.\u201d<\/p>\n

Letting the looters and the anarchists destroy the capital of the world, this city,\u201d he said of the summer\u2019s protest chaos.<\/p>\n

Lobaido\u2019s list kept growing, as did the crowd\u2019s anger.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbusing, humiliating, demoralizing and defunding the greatest police force in the history of the world, the NYPD,\u201d he said, referring to calls to reduce the department\u2019s manpower and budget.<\/p>\n

\u201cA billion \u2014 with a b \u2014 that he and his wife made disappear, vanish into thin air,\u201d Lobaido added, a reference to Thrive, the much-criticized $1.25 billion mental health initiative run by de Blasio\u2019s wife, Chirlane McCray.<\/p>\n

A few of the anti-de Blasio rally-goers mixed it up with a nearby, smaller group of Black Lives Matter demonstrators, marching across the street to scream, \u201cAll lives matter!\u201d<\/p>\n

Cops stepped in to break up the cursing, jostling contenders, whose dispute over who, precisely, matters remained unresolved.<\/p>\n

Annette Gerage, 67, from Brooklyn, held a sign that said, \u201cSave our City \u2014 Impeach De Blasio.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI do feel De Blasio is letting this city go straight to hell, back to the 60s, 70s, 80s, just as bad, if not worse,\u201d she told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe city we have loved is gone. What do you expect from a Dinkins protege? He is a do-nothing mayor.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
