At the time, a source told Cointelegraph on Nov. 12 that she was looking to flee to Dubai.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter user and self-described \u201ccitizen journalist\u201d Autism Capital appears to be the first to share the photos, which is understood to have been sent in by an unnamed user. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cA user claims that they spotted Caroline Ellison at Ground Support Coffee on West Broad in SoHo Manhattan at 8:15 AM [UTC]. This would mean she is not in Hong Kong and is in NY not in custody,\u201d the wrote. <\/p>\n<p>In response, a man going by Daniel Mentado (@dmentado) claiming to work at the cafe \u201cconfirmed\u201d that it was Ellison, and that one of his staff members served her.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">i called the shop and spoke to danny and sent him the links. can confirm he is at the shop.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jess \u2615\ufe0f (@CryptoNCoffeee) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CryptoNCoffeee\/status\/1599473396017864704?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 4, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Some members of the community are surprised that Ellison is on U.S. soil given the possible legal ramifications, while others have <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AutismCapital\/status\/1599481635187351554\">speculated<\/a> that Ellison could be looking to cut a deal with authorities.<\/p>\n<p> The coffee shop in question is only a short <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cobie\/status\/1599487540419264512\">walk<\/a> away from the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office and the New York FBI office, some have pointed out.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Caroline (Alameda CEO) is reportedly in NYC right now. She was in Hong Kong when this began.<\/p>\n<p>The only reason to come back and risk arrest, she already has an immunity deal to testify against SBF.<\/p>\n<p>They give the best deal to the first one who spills the beans. Some crypto community members have even <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/allnick\/status\/1599540459184873495\">attempted<\/a> to find answers in person, without any success. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Crypto community reacts to mainstream media coverage of FTX\u2019s implosion: Criticism, misogyny and more<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried has been on a media tour painting his side of events by denying any intentional foul play\u00a0and laying the blame on Alameda&#8217;s leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, Bankman-Fried tweeted a few hours after the supposed Ellison sighting that he plans to testify at a hearing held by the House Committee on Financial Services at some stage, but not until he has &#8220;finished learning and reviewing what happened.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rep.
