lights or heat after what officials believe was a targeted attack on electric substations. <\/p>\n<p>Nearly 37,000 homes and businesses were without power still early Tuesday morning, according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/poweroutage.us\/\">poweroutage.us.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>That number dropped from the 45,000 who were left in the dark and put under a curfew after two electric substations were damaged by gunfire Sunday evening. <\/p>\n<p>Local officials have offered little information about a possible suspect or motive. <\/p>\n<p>Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said Sunday no one has come forward to claim they carried out the attack. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis individual that done this, it was targeted, it wasn\u2019t random,\u201d Fields added, Officials with Duke Energy Corp, which owns the two substations, say it may take until Thursday to restore power to the thousands who remain without. <\/p>\n<p>In some areas, the damage caused is \u201cbeyond repair,\u201d according to Duke Energy <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Manager Jason Hollifield. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are restoring customers where possible, but the damage is beyond repair in some areas. That leaves us with no option but to replace large pieces of equipment \u2013 which is not an easy or quick task,\u201d Hollifield said. <\/p>\n<div class=\"inline-slideshow\" <\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Authorities instated a county-wide curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. with the intention to protect residents and businesses. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFBI Charlotte is investigating the willful damage to power facilities in Moore County.
