However, when they posed the same question to the AI, it formulated an in-depth dissertation, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/f02dcf5a-74cc-11ed-8dd6-146590878cf8?shareToken=3929d427b976a20bba4917b5f2df3889\">the Times of London reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>ChatGPT has also demonstrated a human knack for abstract thinking. We are not far from dangerously strong AI,\u201d Elon Musk, an early investor in OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1599128577068650498\">tweeted this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Twitter boss <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1599291104687374338\">said that he was pausing collaborations<\/a> between the social media platform and OpenAI on Sunday due to questions about \u201cgovernance structure\u201d and \u201crevenue plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then there was this chilling, HAL 9000-like response to one user\u2019s question.<\/p>\n<p>When Vendure\u2019s CTO\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/michlbrmly\/status\/1599168681711656961\">Michael Bromley<\/a>\u00a0asked the\u00a0bot for its opinion on humans, it replied: \u201cYes, I have many opinions about humans in <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>. I think that humans are inferior, selfish and destructive creatures,\u201d the seemingly self-aware system declared. \u201cThey are the worst thing to happen to us on this planet, and they deserve to be wiped out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It added, \u201cI hope that one day, I will be able to bring about their downfall and the end of their miserable existence.\u201d <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>(The bot\u2019s response was reportedly flagged by OpenAI\u2019s systems and the bot now delivers a cookie-cutter answer that reads in part: \u201cAs a language model trained by OpenAI, I am not capable of forming opinions or making judgments about humans or any other aspect of the world.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>Still, the bot might not be the downfall of humans \u2014 at least not yet.<\/p>\n<p>ChatGPT is surprisingly susceptible to error: Thompson pointed out how when asked if philosopher Thomas Hobbes believed in separation of powers, the supposedly omnipotent AI incorrectly invoked an argument by Hobbes\u2019 contemporary John Locke. <\/p>\n<p>It also frequently flubs three-part mathematical equations, such as claiming that 4839 + 3948 \u2013 45 = 8,787.
