\n You ask, we answer. The Post is fielding questions from readers about New York\u2019s biggest pro sports teams and getting our beat writers to answer them in a series<\/a> of regularly published mailbags. In today\u2019s installment: the Yankees.<\/em><\/p>\n

What is the likelihood the Yankees trade Miguel Andujar at the deadline? \u2014 Chester Lemon <\/strong><\/p>\n

Andujar has been assigned to the alternate site twice already because he hasn\u2019t hit while being asked to be a bench player for the first time in his professional career. Hence, his trade value is low.<\/p>\n

The Yankees still believe his bat is legit, but as long as Gio Urshela continues to shine at third, there is no position for Andujar, who isn\u2019t a big league outfielder. With options remaining, I believe the Yankees aren\u2019t ready to give up on a bat that only needs playing time to produce.<\/p>\n

Why is [Aaron] Hicks playing and not [Clint] Frazier? Other than good defense, Hicks is at best mediocre while Frazier has a ton of talent. This was not a good signing by [GM Brian Cashman]. The Twins moved Hicks, and look at that team. He was always the weak link and to me he still is. \u2003\u2002\u2014 John Palumbo <\/strong><\/p>\n

As for why Hicks is playing and not Frazier, the latter is not a big league center fielder, which Hicks is. Frazier is best suited for a corner spot. To say Frazier has a \u201cton of talent\u2019\u2019 is a bit of a reach at this point. What Frazier has is a lot of potential. Let\u2019s see where Frazier is at after 1,500 big league at-bats before judging his talent level. He has made strides this year at the plate, and defensively Frazier has improved.<\/p>\n

How long can we tolerate a manager who demoralizes and diminishes the trade value of potentially great hitters, who mismanages a pitching staff, who allows Gary Sanchez to swing for the fences every pitch and who constantly posts a lineup that is bewildering? \u2003\u2014 Simon Baitler <\/strong><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s treat this like a teacher who asks you to resubmit an assignment. Name the potentially great hitters for whom Aaron Boone has diminished the trade value. Provide an example or three, of how Boone mismanages a pitching staff and example of a lineup that is bewildering.<\/p>\n

When will DJ [LeMahieu] get a long-term contract? \u2014 Cohen <\/strong><\/p>\n

Not before hitting the free-agent market after the World Series ends. What that contract will look like is a big guess at this point, because MLB clubs will feel the effects of losing a lot of money due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n

What are the chances we see Clarke Schmidt or Deivi Garcia this year? \u2014 Will Bleveans <\/strong><\/p>\n

As long as players and pitchers are working out at the Yankees\u2019 alternate site in Scranton, they have a chance of joining the big league roster. When James Paxton went on the IL with a forearm problem, the door opened for a starter. Of the two, I would expect to see Schmidt reach the big leagues ahead of Garcia.<\/p>\n

What are the Yankees going to do with their starting pitchers? They really have only one.\u2002\u2014 Casiano Lopez Nieves <\/strong><\/p>\n

To say Gerrit Cole is the only starting pitcher discredits Jordan Montgomery and Masahiro Tanaka. Granted, Paxton wasn\u2019t pitching well before going on the IL and J.A. Happ<\/a> has struggled. Mike King and Jonathan Loaisiga are candidates to take Paxton\u2019s spot in the rotation. The Aug. 31 trade deadline could provide a starter, but there are a lot of hurdles to clear to make a deal.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m a Little League coach and I constantly have to remind my players to wear their masks when they are in the dugout. Who does that for the Yankees? \u2014 James Deckinger <\/strong><\/p>\n

According to MLB protocols, it is up to the players to decide if they want to wear masks in the dugout and in the field of play. Some do it in both places, others don\u2019t wear them in either place. However, your reminder to Little Leaguers is a very good idea.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
