He says a musicology expert \u201cclearly and convincingly\u201d shows the two tracks share similar melody, form and structure.<\/p>\n<p>While Roddy has yet to respond to Perry\u2019s complaint, the lawsuit arrives amid the third anniversary celebrations of \u201cThe Box,\u201d which was released on December 6, 2019.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Come On Down (Get Your Head Out Of The Clouds) (Remastered)\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YU-ypCcgo14?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Taken from Roddy Ricch\u2019s debut album <em>Please Excuse Me for Being Anti<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a><\/em>, \u201cThe Box\u201d spent 11 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has since been certified diamond. It received three nominations at the 2021 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year, Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap Performance.<\/p>\n<p>During an interview with <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5784337\/roddy-ricch-the-box-interview\/\">TIME<\/a><\/em> in 2020, Roddy dismissed the idea that the squeaky sound effect in the song\u2019s beat was used to go viral.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit300\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just the sound I heard when I made the song,\u201d he said. \u201cI be putting sounds \u2014 you ever just make random-ass noises? That\u2019s all it was. It was my imagination, wherever your imagination wants to take you. I feel like a lot of people gravitated towards the sound, but it\u2019s just what I heard. When you make music, it\u2019s all art \u2013 so it\u2019s just the way I stroke my paint, the detail added.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 24-year-old also told <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gq.com\/story\/roddy-ricch-the-box-interview-2020\">GQ<\/a><\/em> that \u201cThe Box\u201d was the final song he recorded for <em>Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was actually the last song I made for the album,\u201d he said. \u201cI made it at, like, 7 a.m. in New York after recording all night. I made the song and just decided to put it on the album. I didn\u2019t even have it as a single before the album came out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the song\u2019s producer, 30 Roc, the track came together in just 15 minutes \u2014 like most of their collaborations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt didn\u2019t take long,\u201d he told <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.revolt.tv\/article\/2020-01-10\/82346\/studio-sessions-30-roc-details-making-roddy-ricchs-the-box-in-15-minutes-and-working-on-travis-scotts-astroworld\/\">Revolt<\/a><\/em> in 2020. \u201cWhen we\u2019re in a vibe, it\u2019ll usually take us a good 10-15 minutes. I already know where I want to go with the beat. I already know who I hear on the beat.
