We need to find savings. We have a situation where 10% of the city\u2019s budget is spent on employee healthcare costs. We\u2019re walking into a black hole of negotiations,\u201d she said Wednesday.  <\/p>\n<p>The new bill comes after <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.32bjhealthfundinsights.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/HospitalPrices_screen-pages-final.pdf\">a report by the 32BJ\u2019s Health Fund<\/a> found earlier this year that the city could be overpaying $2 billion annually. It will really help people with their medical debt get the information,\u201d said Menin.<\/p>\n<p>When asked how much the new entity would cost the city \u2013 which is already facing a $2.9 billion budget gap this year that\u2019s prompted cost cutting measures \u2013 Menin did not give exact numbers but defended her proposal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ability to save $2 billion far exceeds any de minimis costs it will cost to create this office. For example, they already comply with Federal law by posting both their prices and consumer-friendly calculators online to help individuals estimate their costs. In addition, both the City Comptroller and State Comptroller already have broad mandates to audit what the City spends on health care for its employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A rep for state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and City Comptroller Brad Lander did not respond to an im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te request for comment from The Post.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
