Her convo with\u00a0<strong>Viola Davis<\/strong> went up on Tuesday and ranges from thoughts on motherhood to action stardom \u2014 and it\u2019s in the latter subject that J.Law makes a pretty wild statement that has film fandom scratching their heads.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about Viola\u2019s action-packed performance in\u00a0<em>The Woman King<\/em>, the 32-year-old tries to make a point about the sexism of the movie industry \u2014 but winds up overblowing her own role in it. She says:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI remember when I was doing <em>Hunger <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a>s<\/em>, nobody had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie because it wouldn\u2019t work because we were told girls and boys can both identify with a male lead, but boys cannot identify with a female lead. And it just makes me so h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>y every single time I see a movie come out that just blows through every one of those beliefs, and proves that it is just a lie to keep certain people out of the movies. To keep certain people in the same positions that they\u2019ve always been in.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-639197d2d4e87-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Um, we\u2019re sorry\u2026 WHAT?! \u201cNobody had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie\u201d?? Before the <em>Hunger Games<\/em>?? Gurl, what in the hell are you even talking about?<\/p>\n<p>Obviously chauvinism has always been a big problem in show business, and there certainly haven\u2019t been enough female action stars over the years. Heck, even now they\u2019re being put in the backseat of their own movies. Never heard of\u00a0<em>Tomb Raider<\/em>?? How about\u00a0<strong>Milla Jovovich<\/strong> as the lead of the\u00a0<em>Resident Evil<\/em> franchise?\u00a0<strong>Kate Beckinsale<\/strong> in the\u00a0<em>Underworld<\/em> movies? <strong>Uma Thurman<\/strong> in <em>Kill Bill<\/em>? That\u2019s not to mention\u00a0<strong>Michelle Yeoh<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Cynthia Rothrock<\/strong> kicking butt in kung fu movies going back to the \u201980s. And <strong>Pam Grier<\/strong> starred in\u00a0<em>Coffy<\/em> in 1973, nearly four decades before Katniss picked up her bow! That\u2019s just off the top of our heads!<\/p>\n<p>Obviously they\u2019re the exception and not the rule, and that\u2019s an important point to make. But come on! We know she means well, but come on, really? You can bash sexism without pretending you\u2019re the great white knight coming in and saving everyone.
