(Greg Nash)<\/p>\n<p>The House Ethics panel received the matter from the nonpartisan Office of Congressional Ethics in June and said it plans to \u201cannounce its course of action\u201d in the next Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Congresswoman has always taken ethics incredibly seriously, refusing any donations from lobbyists, corporations, or other special interests,\u201d a spokesperson for Ocasio-Cortez said in a statement. \u201cWe are confident that this matter will be dismissed.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The House Ethics Committee typically has 45 days to review a matter referred to it by the Office of Congressional Ethics, an independent entity that initially examines allegations of misconduct against lawmakers and other House employees.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the 45 day-period, the committee can choose to extend its consideration of an issue but must make a public statement, as it did in Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s case.<\/p>\n<p>However, the congresswoman\u2019s case was also likely postponed due to last month\u2019s midterm elections, as the ethics panel can also delay action if it is set to occur within a 60-day period before an election.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u2014<em>Updated at 6:27 p.m.<\/em>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
