\n      Federal Trade Commission sues to block Microsoft from acquiring Activision Blizzard    &#8220;<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n<h1><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%80%9D_Federal_Trade_Commission_sues_to_block_Microsoft_from_acquiring_Activision_Blizzard_%E2%80%9C\"><\/span>&#8221;<br \/>\n      Federal Trade Commission sues to block Microsoft from acquiring Activision Blizzard    &#8220;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<div>The Federal Trade Commission has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/news-events\/news\/press-releases\/2022\/12\/ftc-seeks-block-microsoft-corps-acquisition-activision-blizzard-inc\">sued<\/a> to block Microsoft from acquiring Activision Blizzard in a proposed $68.7 billion deal that the agency says \u201cwould enable Microsoft to suppress competitors to its Xbox gaming consoles and its rapidly growing sub<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion content and cloud-gaming business.\u201d <span id=\"more-781053\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In the complaint, the agency pointed out Microsoft\u2019s record of \u201cacquiring and using valuable gaming content to suppress competition from rival consoles, including its acquisition of ZeniMax, parent company of Bethesda Softworks,\u201d and added that \u201cMicrosoft decided to make several of Bethesda\u2019s titles including <em>Starfield<\/em> and <em>Redfall<\/em> Microsoft exclusives despite assurances it had given to European antitrust authorities that it had no incentive to withhold <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s from rival consoles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Federal Trade Commission director Holly Vedova said, \u201cMicrosoft has already shown that it can and will withhold content from its gaming rivals. oday we seek to stop Microsoft from gaining control over a leading independent game studio and using it to harm competition in multiple dynamic and fast-growing gaming markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- AD: content --><br \/>\n        The complaint continues:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Activision is one of only a very small number of top video game developers in the world that create and publish high-quality video games for multiple devices, including video game consoles, PCs, and mobile devices. It produces some of the most iconic and popular video game titles, including <em>Call of Duty<\/em>, <em>World of Warcraft<\/em>, <em>Diablo<\/em>, and <em>Overwatch<\/em>, and has a combined 154 million monthly active users around the world, according to the FTC\u2019s complaint. Activision currently has a strategy of offering its games on many devices regardless of producer.<\/p>\n<p>But that could change if the deal is allowed to proceed. With control over Activision\u2019s blockbuster franchises, Microsoft would have both the means and motive to harm competition by manipulating Activision\u2019s pricing, degrading Activision\u2019s game quality or player experience on rival consoles and gaming services, changing the terms and timing of access to Activision\u2019s content, or withholding content from competitors entirely, resulting in harm to consumers.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
