It\u2019s spreading faster than COVID,\u201d former chairman and CEO of Chrysler and Home Depot CEO Bob Nardelli said on \u201cFox &amp; Friends\u201d Thursday. \u201cThe degree of severity now, it\u2019s not just theft, it\u2019s smash and grab. There\u2019s an entitlement out there that if you have it, you\u2019ve worked hard to earn it. \u2018I want it. I\u2019m just going to take it.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not so much the numbers, although the numbers are alarming, it\u2019s the manner in which this is going on and the implications for each community and each store that this h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens in,\u201d business analyst and 7 Stage Advisors president Carl Gould had noted on \u201cCavuto: Coast to Coast\u201d Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s where the major problem is, because this type of crime emboldens other types of crime, and it only escalates from here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During an appearance on CNBC Tuesday, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said theft is \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/markets\/walmart-ceo-doug-mcmillon-says-theft-higher-than-what-has-historically-been\">higher than what it has historically been<\/a>.\u201d He explained Walmart has safety and security measures \u201cthat we\u2019ve put in place by store location\u201d to help combat the issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think local law enforcement being staffed, and being a good partner is part of that equation, and that\u2019s normally how we approach it,\u201d McMillon added.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/Bob-Nardelli-14.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Former Home Depot CEO Bob Nardelli\" class=\"wp-image-24941865\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/Bob-Nardelli-14.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/Bob-Nardelli-14.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/Bob-Nardelli-14.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>\u201cThe degree of severity now, it\u2019s not just theft, it\u2019s smash and grab,\u201d says former Home Depot CEO Bob Nardelli.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Walmart joins the growing list of retailers feeling the effects of raging theft and crime across the nation ahead of the holiday shopping season. Drugstore companies like Rite Aid, CVS and Walgreens have\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/retail\/target-exec-says-retail-theft-hurt-companys-gross-profit-margin\">publicly cited shoplifting concerns<\/a>, as well as retailers such as Kroger, Target and Best Buy.<\/p>\n<p>The Home Depot also recently expressed it was \u201coutraged\u201d when an elderly worker\u00a0died after being shoved\u00a0during a store theft in North Carolina this fall.<\/p>\n<p>While Nardelli called the tragedy \u201cvery, very unfortunate\u201d and \u201csad,\u201d he put the onus on the Biden administration to get ahold on rising crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow it has elevated to the point where you\u2019ve got Doug McMillon talking about impacting earnings. And this is another silent contributor to inflation,\u201d Nardelli said. \u201cOur associates are afraid. The retail salespeople are afraid. Consumers are afraid. We\u2019ve got to get control of this. All customer[s].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s unbelievable what\u2019s happening and what we\u2019re allowing to happen,\u201d Nardelli reacted. \u201cAgain, unfortunately, the abdication is put in the hands of corporations like Walmart, Target and the gas stations, for example, that have to take control and protect their property and their employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the root cause of the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/psaki-organized-retail-crime-root-cause-covid-19-pandemic\">spike in organized retail crime<\/a>\u00a0was the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the Biden administration was working with a number of communities across the nation to \u201ccrack down\u201d on crime in those neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<p>But neither Nardelli nor Gould argued that the crime crisis has improved since then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt used to be somebody would take a candy bar, there maybe was damage as a result of shipment, there was misplaced inventory,\u201d Nardelli detailed. \u201cBut now, it\u2019s just blatant robbery. It\u2019s just blatant robbery.
