With nearly a third of its land below sea level, the country has been highly-adaptive to environmental challenges \u2014 finding ways to turn them into opportunities for technological growth.<\/p>\n<p>Think, for instance, of how the Dutch have managed to reclaim land from sea with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollandlandofwater.com\/nederlandse-polders\/\">polders<\/a>, or avoid flooding from the North Sea with the construction of the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rijkswaterstaat.nl\/en\/water\/water-safety\/delta-works#:~:text=3%20locks%2C%206%20dams%20and,flooding%20from%20the%20North%20Sea.\">Delta Works<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of dams and surge barriers along the southern West coast.<\/p>\n<div class=\"inarticle-wrapper channel-cta\">\n<div class=\"ica-text\">\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Join_TNW_in_Valencia\"><\/span>Join TNW in Valencia!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The heart of tech is coming to the heart of the Mediterranean<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Netherlands\u2019 environmental credentials extend far beyond managing water systems though.\u00a0One element that\u2019s often overlooked is the country\u2019s huge agricultural industry.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being the 131st biggest country in the world, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/oec.world\/en\/profile\/bilateral-product\/vegetable-products\/reporter\/nld\">it\u2019s the 4th largest exporter of vegetables<\/a>. And beyond private funding, companies developing sustainable technologies can benefit from governmental support as well through <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.greendeals.nl\/english\">collaborations<\/a> or <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rvo.nl\/subsidies-financiering\/sde\">subsidies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All this comes together to make the Netherlands a leading location for the creation of environmentally-focused technologies. Not only is this supported by the government and embedded in the country\u2019s culture, there is a pre-existing workforce that\u2019s highly skilled in dealing with this sorts of problems.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s no coincidence that the Dutch are <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/3020918\/how-the-netherlands-became-the-biggest-exporter-of-resilience\">huge exporters of climate resilience knowledge<\/a>, after all.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, the Netherlands has both a pedigree in environmental technologies, but also the potential to be the world leader in innovative green technologies.
