SBF said at the time that FTX had reached a \u201cstrategic transaction\u201d with CZ, but Binance later pulled out after reviewing the exchange\u2019s balance sheets. The former FTX CEO claimed that Binance \u201cthreatened to walk at the last minute\u201d without an additional $75 million, accusing CZ of lying about his role in the deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou didn&#8217;t even have the rights to pull out as an investor unless we chose to buy you out&#8211;much of the tokens\/equity were still locked,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SBF_FTX\/status\/1601192083540578305\">said<\/a> SBF, addressing CZ.<\/p>\n<p>CZ <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cz_binance\/status\/1601204210611425280\">responded<\/a> in kind:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cSam, not that it matters now. You also can\u2019t force us to sell if we don\u2019t want to. Also, we have the veto right to block any further fundraising you were doing. Never used or mentioned it. It was never a competition or fight. No one won [&#8230;] Don\u2019t try to tell your friends to focus on us. Focus on yourself. You should have learned that by now.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-12\/a8b94fe3-9cb7-48a5-ab68-61a6d593ec51.png\"><\/figure>\n<p>Lawmakers with the United States House Finance Services Committee previously called on Bankman-Fried to speak at a hearing exploring the collapse of FTX. Though SBF initially said he planned to wait to testify until he had \u201cfinished learning and reviewing what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened,\u201d committee leadership threatened a subpoena, prompting the former FTX CEO to say on Twitter he would be \u201cwilling to testify\u201d on Dec. 13.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>FEC probe demanded after SBF &#8216;admitted&#8217; making dark money donations<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Though Bankman-Fried has seemingly been attempting to delay appearances with officials regarding the events leading to FTX\u2019s downfall, he has not been shy about interviews with various media outlets.
