Sinema Quit the Dems<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cGee, Democrats, maybe you shouldn\u2019t have chased [Sen.] Kyrsten Sinema into the bathroom\u201d last year but instead denounced that attack on her more loudly, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/the-morning-jolt\/democrats-blew-their-chance-with-sinema\/\">snipes National Review\u2019s Jim Geraghty<\/a>. True, \u201cit wasn\u2019t the bathroom incident alone that made Sinema leave the Democratic Party\u201d Friday, but that affair did show that her party\u2019s activists prefer \u201charassment to persuasion\u201d and that its leaders don\u2019t feel compelled to defend her. Sinema wants to steer legislation in a center-left direction, while \u201ca certain segment of the Democratic Party\u2019s base\u201d believes anyone \u201cwho hinders or delays them from getting what they want is an enemy.\u201d Trouble is, if \u201cyou keep treating a member of your party\u201d like an enemy, sooner or later she\u2019ll \u201cdecide she might as well become an enemy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> desk: NYT Staff\u2019s Play-Acting \u2018Strike\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve witnessed relatively paltry gestures like\u201d Thursday\u2019s walkout before by New York Times staffers, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/magazine\/2022\/12\/07\/new-york-times-union-walkout-00072639\">scoffs Politico\u2019s Jack Shafer<\/a> \u2014 and \u201cmanagement didn\u2019t suffer even a pin prick.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>paper unions once \u201cwere powerful enough to drive newspapers under with prolonged strikes,\u201d but \u201cadvances in computer typesetting and other technologies . . . have altered the union-management dynamic, favoring management.\u201d Also, newspapers \u201chave lost the economic and cultural centrality they held 60 years ago.\u201d That\u2019s why the NewsGuild has \u201calmost no leverage in its struggle against the paper.\u201d Indeed, \u201ceven the most ardent New York Times reader will admit that newspapers are fungible\u201d \u2014 readers can turn \u201cto the web for timely news.\u201d So while \u201cfighting the bosses has never been easy . . . play-acting at strikes has never won a new, juicy contract.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Libertarian: City Council\u2019s New Attack on Jobs<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/other-commentary-5.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Tiffany Caban speaks during a news conference in Queens on June 25, 2019.\" class=\"wp-image-24963774\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/other-commentary-5.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/other-commentary-5.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/other-commentary-5.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Tiffany Cab\u00e1n has served on the City Council since 2021.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Reuters<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Councilwoman Tiffany Cab\u00e1n\u2019s Secure Jobs Act claims to be about protecting workers \u201cagainst unfair and arbitrary firings,\u201d but its \u201cmandates would likely make work much more precarious for many New Yorkers,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/reason.com\/2022\/12\/08\/secure-jobs-act-would-cost-new-yorkers-secure-jobs\/\">contends Reason\u2019s Elizabeth Nolan Brown<\/a>. But it had: The info showed Twitter worked \u201cclosely with the Biden campaign to remove tweets\u201d it disliked, providing assistance Team Trump could never even hope to get. Of course, that makes it \u201cimportant for the left that this story goes away,\u201d because it confirms that there\u2019s not equal treatment for \u201cboth sides of the political aisle.\u201d Yet the files are important: \u201cSunshine is the best disinfectant\u201d; Americans should see the \u201cclear bias\u201d of social media.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Progressive: How Dems Can Expand Their Base<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocrats need a new strategy for breaking America\u2019s political stalemate . . . by dramatically expanding their coalition,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/campaign\/3765932-can-democrats-break-americas-political-stalemate\/\">argues Will Marshall at The Hill<\/a>.
