He also serves on the Senate Banking Committee, which is one of the key players involved in the ongoing debate over U.S. crypto regulation. <\/p>\n<p>During a Dec. 11 <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earance on NBC\u2019s <em>Meet the Press<\/em>, Tester <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MeetThePress\/status\/1601968382420701187\">argued<\/a> that as crypto has no real value at all, the sector shouldn\u2019t be regulated, as that would give it legitimacy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s not been able to pass the smell test for me. I have not been able to find anybody who&#8217;s been able to explain to me what&#8217;s there other than synthetics [&#8230;] which means nothing,\u201d he said, adding that: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe problem is if we regulate it, and I pointed this out to some of the regulators here a week or two ago, if we regulated it, it may give it the ability of people to think it&#8217;s real.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In line with such thinking, Tester then went on to state that he sees \u201cno reason why this stuff should exist\u201d at all. <\/p>\n<p>The crypto community wasn\u2019t shy about slamming the senator&#8217;s anti-crypto remarks and his self-admitted lack of crypto knowledge, with user @BS0064 sayingthat it&#8217;s \u201calways good to see people who have no idea what they\u2019re talking about to express really strong opinions on the matter.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Also, @blocknonprofit argued, \u201cit is real\u2026 imagine all those cryptos are just tech stocks not traded on traditional exchanges used today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tester\u2019s most-recent testy comments come just a couple of weeks after he told <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> startup Semafor that the sector was \u201call bullshit\u201d and that he can\u2019t \u201cfigure out what supports it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Semafor\u2019s Dec. 1 article was also <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.semafor.com\/article\/12\/01\/2022\/dems-crypto-bullshit\">littered<\/a> with negative crypto stances from a bunch of Democrat senators, with crypto-hater Elizabeth Warren going in hard by noting: \u201cfinally, there are more people blowing the bullshit whistle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bernie Sanders was at least more diplomatic, stating that he\u2019s \u201cnot a big fan\u201d of crypto. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Senate Banking Committee Democrats warn SoFi about meeting its compliance deadline<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the article via Twitter, Semafor Washington editor Jordan Weissmann suggested that since the FTX debacle went down, \u201cDems suddenly feel free to say what they really think about the crypto industry.\u201d <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">After FTX, it seems Dems suddenly feel free to say what they really think about the crypto industry. <\/p>\n<p>Jon Tester told our reporter yesterday that he thinks the entire thing is &#8220;bullshit.&#8221; Warren, Brown, and Sanders also had words. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LzbCM9SkJD\">https:\/\/t.co\/LzbCM9SkJD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jordan Weissmann (@JHWeissmann) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JHWeissmann\/status\/1598293881715843073?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 1, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"markets_outlook\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
