Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Monday said her recent comment that the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack would have been armed and successful if she planned it was \u201csarcasm,\u201d after she drew rebukes from the White House and Democratic leaders. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe White House needs to learn how sarcasm works,\u201d Greene said in a statement. \u201cMy comments were making fun of Joe Biden and the Democrats, who have continuously made me a political target since January 6.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Greene made the comments about the Jan. 6 attack at a gala for the New York Young Republican Club on Saturday, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arently hitting back at claims that she and former Trump adviser Stephen Bannon were involved in planning the insurrection.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I will tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I had organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, it would\u2019ve been armed,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>The White House condemned her remarks earlier on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt goes against our fundamental values as a country for a Member of Congress to wish that the carnage of\u00a0January 6th\u00a0had been even worse, and to boast that she would have succeeded in an armed insurrection against the United States government,\u201d\u00a0White House spokesman Andrew Bates said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis violent rhetoric is a slap in the face to the Capitol Police, the DC Metropolitan Police, the National Guard, and the families who lost loved ones as a result of the attack on the Capitol,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the Jan. 6 rioters <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ed to the Capitol with firearms, with some convicted on weapons charges.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Greene, a fervent ally of former President Trump, has long promoted his unfounded claims of mass electoral fraud in the 2020 presidential election and has at times defended Jan. 6 participants, including likening their actions to following the Declaration of Independence\u2019s call to \u201coverthrow tyrants.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those comments have led to repeated attacks from Democrats, and Greene earlier this year testified under oath about Jan. 6 after a group tried to remove her from the ballot under a constitutional clause barring people who have \u201cengaged in insurrection\u201d against the U.S. from holding federal office.<\/p>\n<p>When asked during the hearing if she had heard in advance of plans to enter the Capitol and engage in violence, Greene\u00a0said she\u00a0\u201cnever heard that from anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>House Democrats and 11 Republicans in the month following the Capitol attack\u00a0voted to strip Greene of her committee assignments\u00a0for her embrace of the QAnon conspiracy theory and apparent endorsements of violence against Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who is hoping to become Speaker in the next Congress, has vowed to restore Greene\u2019s committee assignments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will never back down from my support of the Second Amendment,\u201d Greene said on Monday. \u201cAnd I will never allow the White House, Democrats or the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> to continue to accuse me of something I had nothing to do with.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p><em>This story was updated at 1:43 p.m.<\/em>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
