Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.), who had questioned Ray about the crypto kid\u2019s parents \u2014 both of whom have strong ties to Democrats \u2014 noted that Bankman-Fried was \u201cat least 15 minutes late\u201d to a meeting at his office in December 2021 and that \u201chis father accompanied him\u201d on the visit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems to me that there\u2019s a lot more to uncover here. I don\u2019t know how that was papered in,\u201d Bankman-Fried claimed last month.<\/p>\n<p>Bankman, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/sam-bankman-frieds-father-drafted-tax-legislation-elizabeth-warren-donated-thousands-dems\">who helped craft Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren\u2019s failed legislation to simplify the tax code in 2016<\/a>, regularly accompanied his son to meetings on Capitol Hill during FTX\u2019s rise to prominence in the cryptocurrency sector. The ex-billionaire contributed to a political advocacy network that Fried oversaw. <\/p>\n<p>The parents\u2019 involvement with FTX has also impacted their standing at Stanford, where they have become a \u201csubject of gossip\u201d among colleagues, according to the New York Times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a friend who said, \u2018You don\u2019t want to be seen with them,\u2019\u201d Larry Kramer, a former dean at Stanford\u2019s law school and a family friend, told the outlet. \u201cI don\u2019t see how this doesn\u2019t bankrupt them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bankman and Fried \u201chave told friends that their son\u2019s legal bills will likely wipe them out financially,\u201d the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
