\n Say it ain\u2019t Sosa.<\/p>\n

Sammy Sosa is holding out hope for a future Cubs reunion, despite the outfielder not being welcomed back since the club traded him in 2005.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t see why [I can\u2019t] be invited to Chicago, but you know it\u2019s not in my hands,\u201d Sosa said Tuesday on ESPN 1000\u2019s \u201cKap & Co.\u201d in Chicago. \u201cI don\u2019t control that; I don\u2019t want to get into much of that because I don\u2019t want to create any inconvenience, or I don\u2019t want people to get mad at me for some reason.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully one day it\u2019s gonna happ<\/a>en, but it doesn\u2019t bother me. I just continue living my life. Whatever we have to do, we\u2019ll do it. But I guess we have to wait a little bit longer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts has said the Cubs want some \u201chonesty\u201d from players in that era regarding steroid use. Sosa was on the list of players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, according to the New York Times, but he has testified in front of congress that he never used steroids.<\/p>\n

Sosa brought the Cubs into the national spotlight in 1998 when he and Mark McGwire battled for the home run title. McGwire finished with 70 home runs to Sosa\u2019s 66, though the race has since been tarnished by implications of steroid use \u2014 which McGwire has admitted while Sosa remains defiant he did not.<\/p>\n

Still, Sosa believes he will one day return to Chicago and even expects to have his No. 21 retired. He said the upcoming ESPN 30-for-30, \u201cLong Gone Summer\u201d \u2014 set to debut Sunday, focusing on his and McGwire\u2019s home run race \u2014 will \u201cchange a lot of people\u2019s minds.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that I will be there pretty soon,\u201d Sosa told the Chicago Tribune. \u201cThank you [Cubs fans] for the support, thank you for so many great times, so many great moments, and I\u2019m looking forward to [being] back in Chicago soon.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
