(His wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, usually co-hosts the show alongside her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and Willow.)<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit200\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Oscar-winner admitted that the ad-libbed scene from <em>Emancipation<\/em>, which follows a man escaping slavery, left him at a loss for words.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the years have gone on, I\u2019ve gotten more and more locked into these characters for longer periods of time,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s just the weight of this story, the weight of these experiences \u2014 the quality of these actors. It was emotionally, it was physically, it was spiritually taxing.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit300\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>He continued: \u201cOne of the first days on set, there is a scene with one of the actors, and he leans down in my face and says, \u2018You a cold one, ain\u2019t you?\u2019 and then he ad-libbed\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After re-enacting the spitting, all three of his children burst into laughter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was like, \u2018Makeup!\u2019\u201d Smith recalled. \u201cNo, but it was like \u2026 I was like, \u2018Whoa\u2019. The film is inspired by the famous 1863 photo of \u201cWhipped Peter,\u201d an enslaved man who joined the Union Army in hopes of being reunited with his family.<\/p>\n<p>The movie marks Smith\u2019s first starring role following his infamous slap of Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars in March. The incident led to Smith being barred from the Academy and its events for 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>After taking a few months off, the former <em>Fresh Prince<\/em> star\u00a0returned in with an apology video in July addressing the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointing people is my central trauma,\u201d he said in the almost six-minute clip. \u201cI hate when I let people down. It hurts me psychologically and emotionally to know I didn\u2019t live up to people\u2019s image and impression of me.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit400\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>He continued: \u201cI made a mistake, and I\u2019m trying not to think of myself as a piece of shit, so I would say to those people, I know it was confusing, I know it was shocking, but I promise you I am deeply devoted and committed to putting light and love and joy into the world.
