\n China has been administering a potential COVID-19 vaccine to employees who work in high-risk situations for contracting the virus, a top health official said.<\/p>\n

Zheng Zhongwei, director of the Science<\/a> and Technology<\/a> Development Center of the National Health Commission, said that frontline healthcare workers and border patrol officers are among those who have been able to receive the vaccine candidate since July 22, CNN reported.<\/p>\n

Developed by Sinopharm\u2019s China National Biotec Group Company, the potential vaccine has been app<\/a>roved for \u201cemergency use,\u201d Zheng said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve drawn up a series<\/a> of plan packages, medical consent forms, side effect monitoring plans, rescuing plans, compensation plans, to make sure the emergency use is well regulated and monitored,\u201d Zheng told state media<\/a>, according to Sky News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Zheng said the country plans to offer the vaccine to workers in more industries, such as transportation, in Beijing to \u201cestablish an immunity barrier\u201d to protect against potential outbreaks in the fall and winter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen the entire city\u2019s operation has a stable guarantee,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
