Hideo Kojima&#8217;s studio is teaming up with <b><i>Barbarian <\/i><\/b>executive producer Alex Lebovici&#8217;s Hammerstone Studios to develop and produce the adaptation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kojima and Lebovici are producing the film, which is being fully financed by Hammerstone and has Kojima Productions US and Allan Ungar on board as executive producers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b><i>RELATED: <\/i><\/b><span style=\"color:#f39c12;\"><i>Death Stranding 2 Revealed with Debut Trailer at The Game Awards<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While there isn&#8217;t much to go on in terms of the adaptation&#8217;s story, Deadline reports that it will include new elements and characters. Development is underway and the project is being fast tracked, but no director or writer has been announced at the time of this writing.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what Kojima had to say about the project: \u201cI couldn\u2019t be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios \u2026 This is a pivotal moment for the franchise and I\u2019m really looking forward to collaborating with them in bringing DEATH STRANDING to the big screen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lebovici emphasized how excited they are to team up with Kojima on his first film adaptation, adding that this will be &#8220;far more intimate and grounded&#8221; than your average tentpole video game adaptation, and will be &#8220;an authentic &#8216;Hideo Kojima&#8217; production.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The first <b><i>Death Stranding <\/i><\/b>game launched on PlayStation 4 in 2019 before being ported to PC in July 2020 and PlayStation 5 in September 2021.
