The order lifts a stay that automatically halted the cases when Jones filed for bankruptcy. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/shootings-austin-texas-63f4ecbf7adbb60c2f5dfe0726b6cb5e\" data-ylk=\"slk:Free Speech Systems\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Free Speech Systems<\/a>, Jones&#8217; media company, is also seeking bankruptcy protection.<\/p>\n<p>Lopez approved the order, which prevents the families from pursuing collection efforts, during an hour and a half long hearing that Jones attended remotely.<\/p>\n<p>Jones <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/alex-jones-declares-personal-bankruptcy-4f50412d0c4ce0495b351b8417f5d09c\" data-ylk=\"slk:filed for Chapter 11\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">filed for Chapter 11<\/a> personal bankruptcy protection earlier this month in Texas, citing $1 billion to $10 billion in liabilities and $1 million to $10 million in assets.<\/p>\n<p>For years, Jones described the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre as a hoax. A Connecticut jury in October awarded victims\u2019 families <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/shootings-school-connecticut-conspiracy-alex-jones-3f579380515fdd6eb59f5bf0e3e1c08f\" data-ylk=\"slk:$965 million in compensatory damages\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">$965 million in compensatory damages<\/a>, and a judge later tacked on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/entertainment-shootings-business-connecticut-alex-jones-c6d0563dc17e7bfa83a881b44e7b9eec\" data-ylk=\"slk:another $473 million in punitive damages\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">another $473 million in punitive damages<\/a>. Earlier in the year, a Texas jury awarded the parents of a child killed in the shooting $49 million in damages.<\/p>\n<p>Jones has laughed at the awards on his Infowars show, saying he has less than $2 million to his name and won\u2019t be able to pay such high amounts. Those comments contradicted the testimony of a forensic economist at the Texas trial, who said Jones and Free Speech Systems have a combined net worth as high as $270 million.<\/p>\n<p>In documents filed in July in Free Speech Systems\u2019 bankruptcy case in Texas, a budget for the company for Nov. 26 to Dec. 23 estimated product sales will total nearly $3 million, while operating expenses will be nearly $739,000. Jones\u2019 salary is listed at $20,000 every two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Lopez on Monday delayed taking up a motion by Jones&#8217; attorneys to force Free Speech Systems to pay the $1.3 million listed under his contract, which would amount to about $54,000 every two weeks. Lopez said he will take up the issue at a hearing next month.<\/p>\n<p>Sandy Hook families have alleged in another lawsuit in Texas that Jones hid millions of dollars in assets after victims\u2019 relatives began taking him to court. Jones\u2019 lawyer denied the allegation.<\/p>\n<p>A third trial over Jones\u2019 comments on Sandy Hook is expected to begin within the next two months in Texas, in a lawsuit brought by the parents of another child killed in the shooting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
