She also cited California Penal Code 136.1, which makes it a crime to attempt to dissuade a witness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s based on testimony by both the victim and Ms. (Kelsey) Harris\u201d about \u201cstatements the defendant made in the car, offering them a million dollars\u201d in hush money, Ta told the Los Angeles court.<\/p>\n<p>When quizzed by Judge David Herriford about why the state waited so long considering Megan made the allegation early in the case, Ta explained she wasn\u2019t sure how Harris was going to testify, but once she did appear to corroborate the claim on the witness stand, they decided to file.<\/p>\n<p>Lanez\u2019s defense lawyer, George Mgdesyan, objected, arguing prosecutors had known what Harris\u2019 testimony likely would be since as early as September, when she vividly recalled witnessing Tory shoot Megan in an interview with prosecutors.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit300\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Judge Herriford sided with the defense and rejected the additional charges, saying the late change would place Lanez\u2019s legal team in a \u201cdifficult position\u201d in terms of putting together a proper response.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s unfair at this juncture, so I would deny that motion,\u201d the judge said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=q6ARhstaj8I\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=q6ARhstaj8I<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tory Lanez (real name Dayster Peterson) still faces three charges: felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a concealed, unregistered firearm and discharging a firearm with gross negligence, all of which he has pleaded not guilty to.<\/p>\n<p>If convicted, he faces a maximum of 22 years and eight months in prison, as well as subsequent deportation to his native Canada.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit400\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Tory has yet to take the stand himself, but the explosive trial has seen testimony from a number of individuals related to the case, including Megan Thee Stallion.<\/p>\n<p>In an emotional court appearance last week, the Houston native recounted the events leading up to Lanez allegedly shooting her five times and telling her to \u201cdance, bitch.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit500\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Meg admitted she and Tory had been involved in a non-exclusive sexual relationship prior to the incident \u2014 contradicting her previous denial about them being intimate \u2014 and explained she initially didn\u2019t report the rapper to police for fear that cops might \u201cshoot first and ask questions later.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old also opened up about her struggle in the wake of the shooting, saying she has \u201cbeen turned into some kind of villain,\u201d particularly among the \u201cboy\u2019s club\u201d of the rap <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has messed up my whole life,\u201d she told the jury. \u201cI wish he would have just shot and killed me [rather than] have to go through this torture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors were hoping to strengthen their case by calling Megan\u2019s bodyguard, Justin Edison, to the witness stand last week. Edison was expected to testify that Tory apologized to him for shooting the \u201cSavage\u201d rapper while at his rental house the day after the alleged incident.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit600\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>However, the bodyguard didn\u2019t show up to court and remains off the grid. According to <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2022\/12\/19\/megan-thee-stallion-bodyguard-da-office-seeking-him\/\">TMZ<\/a><\/em>, investigators paid a visit to an L.A. home on Monday in hopes of finding Edison, but were unable to locate him.
