Kelly\u2019s former manager has been sentenced to one year in federal prison for calling in a shooting threat at a New York theater in 2018 to stop a screening of the damaging docu<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> <em>Surviving R. Kelly<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Donnell Russell, who briefly managed the disgraced R&amp;B star as he faced growing sexual abuse allegations, was sentenced for his crime in a New York court on Monday (December 19), according to the <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Entertainment\/wireStory\/kelly-manager-gets-year-prison-theater-threat-95552333\">Associated Press<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit200\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>As the judge handed down his sentence, Russell claimed he\u2019s not a \u201chorrible person,\u201d but admitted to making \u201cbad judgements\u201d during his time working with Kelly, who himself is behind bars.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Paul Gardephe, however, condemned the 47-year-old as someone who took part in \u201cserious criminal conduct\u201d in \u201ca misguided attempt to protect someone who was a prolific abuser.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit300\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In his phone call, Russell claimed someone at the event had a gun and intended to open fire. The theater was subsequently evacuated and the screening called off.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>y that it ended. I didn\u2019t question how it ended,\u201d Russell said of the canceled premiere during his sentencing hearing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lllpb61lBcA\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lllpb61lBcA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The docuseries, which aired on Lifetime in 2019 and helped lead to R. Kelly\u2019s eventual imprisonment, detailed the allegations that the singer sexually abused women and girls. Some of the accusers were scheduled to speak on a panel after the screening.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors linked Russell to the crime through phone records and a text he sent about police potentially arriving at the venue. He was convicted in July of threatening physical harm through interstate communication, although he was acquitted of conspiracy.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit400\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Donnell Russell will serve his sentence concurrently with another conviction related to his efforts to supress R. Kelly\u2019s accusers. In November, the Chicago native was sentenced to 20 months in prison for stalking one of the singer\u2019s sexual assault victims in order to \u201csilence\u201d her.<\/p>\n<p>Russell is alleged to have used phone calls, emails and texts to harass and intimidate the victim and her mother between 2018 and 2020. His coercive campaign even included publishing explicit photos of the victim online \u2014 behavior prosecutors called \u201creprehensible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for R. Kelly, the \u201cI Believe I Can Fly\u201d hitmaker is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking charges. He was convicted again in September of child pornography and exploitation charges by a federal jury in in his hometown of Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>Following the latter verdict, Kelly\u2019s team filed two motions seeking a new trial or an outright reversal of his conviction. The singer\u2019s lead attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, cited several technical factors, including that prosecutors had not proven that the infamous videotape of Kelly abusing \u201cJane\u201d at his home was made for the \u201cpurpose\u201d of producing child pornography.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit500\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Meanwhile, R. Kelly and his fianc\u00e9e Joycelyn Savage reportedly welcomed their first child together earlier this month.
