The film has grossed $5.6 million worldwide to date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cCommercially the movie was a failure,\u201d Gray told the publication. \u201cBut so is everything. I mean, I know that\u2019s not true.\u00a0<em>Black Panther: Wakanda Forever<\/em>\u00a0is not. But you\u2019re now in a situation where literally every single one of these [non-franchise] <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> is not doing well, and in some ways, that\u2019s the great equalizer.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    He continued, \u201cBut you also know as a film person that has absolutely no bearing on the long-term reaction to a film. I\u2019m a film person, and I have no idea what the box office receipts were of, you know,\u00a0<em>A Clockwork Orange<\/em>\u00a0or something. So I try to divorce myself from that as well. Because I can\u2019t do anything about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    During the conversation, Gray said he felt good about <em>Armageddon Time<\/em> and cited a number of reasons why a movie like his would have underperformed theatrically, including older audiences still feeling hesitant about returning to crowded theaters in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also mentioned that smaller arthouse theaters that could have supported the film have had to close in recent years. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Additionally, Gray took aim at <em>Rotten Tomatoes<\/em>, where his movie holds a 76 percent <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roval rating: \u201cIt\u2019s taken all the nuance, and actually encourages a three-star review that everybody gives you as opposed to that wonderful kind of divisive debate discourse that we used to love, right?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    The director went on to say that distributors may now see a theatrical run as a loss leader, in that even if a film doesn\u2019t thrive at the box office, it will likely do better on PVOD and streaming than a movie that wasn\u2019t in theaters. But ultimately, Gray doesn\u2019t feel that box office returns should be a key focal point in discussing a project. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cIt tells you something of how indoctrinated we are with capitalism that somebody will say, like, \u2018His movies haven\u2019t made a dime!&#8217;\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s like, well, do you own stock in Comcast?
