-- even writing the president's daily briefings.\" class=\"wp-image-25109570\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/aaron-berman-02.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 924w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/aaron-berman-02.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=462 462w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 924px) 100vw, 924px\"\/><figcaption>Meta\u2019s top policy manager for \u201cmisinformation,\u201d Aaron Berman, is a former CIA senior analytics manager.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The migration from the intelligence services is particularly pronounced at Facebook\u2019s parent company, Meta, where at least nine former CIA agents and six former intelligence employees at other federal agencies are or have been employed.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Jim Hanson, president of information warfare analysis and consulting firm WorldStrat, told The Post Meta took a particular interest in bringing G-men and woman on board after the 2016 presidential election. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ones who are ideologically aligned with the woke left saw the danger of Trump and they wanted to affect that and the way they could be most influential was taking over our shared information space,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd they moved to the socials. And they were successful.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ability of Americans to get information that doesn\u2019t go through a leftist lens doesn\u2019t exist,\u201d he added. \u201cYou cannot ask a question online that doesn\u2019t come back to you with a leftists filtered answer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meta\u2019s top policy manager for \u201cmisinformation,\u201d Aaron Berman, is a former CIA senior analytics manager who spent 15 years with \u201cThe Company\u201d \u2014 even writing the president\u2019s daily briefings.<\/p>\n<p>Others include Scott Stern, Meta\u2019s senior manager for trust and safety risk intelligence, who spent more than seven years with the FBI leading \u201chigh-stakes operational determinations for complex and ambiguous overseas counterterrorism operations,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/9wsYK#selection-1743.251-1743.282\">according to his LinkedIn page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Stern joined Meta in January 2020 to help develop algorithms to combat \u201cmisinformation,\u201d as well as more traditional FBI bailiwicks like child safety and counterterrorism. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/aaron-berman-featured.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"This has raised concerns about the influence of their onetime agencies over the social media giants.\" class=\"wp-image-25109569\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/aaron-berman-featured.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1536 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/aaron-berman-featured.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/aaron-berman-featured.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Many former CIA and FBI agents went on to work at Facebook and Twitter after the serving the government. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Still another is Facebook senior strategist for \u201ccreator equity and well-being\u201d Corey Ponder, who describes in his <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/5bqh9\">LinkedIn profile<\/a> how he spent more than six years at the CIA \u2014 the majority of which was spent as a \u201csenior targeting analyst.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>That job entails identifying and assessing \u201cvulnerabilities and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> trends, uniting technical operations and development activities to collect intelligence against our nation\u2019s threats,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cia.gov\/careers\/jobs\/technical-targeting-analyst\/#:~:text=Technical%20Targeting%20Analysts%20identify%20and,intelligence%20against%20our%20nation's%20threats.\">according to a CIA hiring website<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Other former CIA employees include Bryan Weisbard, Meta\u2019s director of privacy strategy and operations; Kris Rose, a member of its governance point-person on its oversight board project from March 2020 to October 2021; and Hagan Barnett, a former CIA contractor who leads \u201charmful content operations\u201d at Meta, according to LinkedIn.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not just Meta\u2019s policy makers who have intelligence ties; some of their top tech people do as well.<\/p>\n<p>Cameron Harris, Meta\u2019s \u201cworkflow risk project manager,\u201d previously spent four years as a CIA analyst. On Thursday, he posted on LinkedIn Thursday that he was \u201chonored\u201d to be featured in articles exposing former intelligence operatives that work for social media entities now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf only my high school civics teacher \u2026 could see me now!\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/WQhzH\">Mike Torrey spent more than<\/a> eight years with the CIA as a senior analyst \u201cleading analysis and efforts to counter cyber threats,\u201d before joining Meta in September 2018 as a security engineer investigator.<\/p>\n<p>And in March 2022, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/amarpreet-ghuman\/\">Amarpreet Ghuman<\/a> joined Meta to work in \u201cproduct integrity\u201d and \u201celections\u201d after six year as a FBI analyst.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this many former intelligence people, it\u2019s like Big Tech are basically just becoming \u2026 extensions of the intelligence community,\u201d said Bill Ottman, founder and CEO of the social media platform Minds. \u201cIt\u2019s just not <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Ottman, while a single job candidate\u2019s past government work would not preclude him from hiring the person, the apparent trend of hiring shadowy former government figures troubles him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf some former intelligence official came to try to work for us, I would probably just say no, just because why is it even worth the risk?\u201d he said. \u201cWhy would I want to worry about some sort of back channel happening?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot every former intelligence employee is going to continue a relationship with the CIA after they\u2019ve left, but you just don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Having swaths of senior social media employees with ties to federal intelligence agencies risks not only free speech, but also privacy and potentially national security, Ottman argued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Twitter, for instance, all the [direct messages] are open to all of the moderators,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s heads of state that DM on Twitter, politicians DM on Twitter.
