\n Pandemic journal: Joe\u2019s Blinkered COVID Fix<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Wall Street Journal\u2019s editors now know why Joe Biden\u2019s advisers have kept him \u201cunder wraps\u201d: The ex-veep vowed Sunday to shut the economy if there\u2019s a COVID-19 surge. He\u2019d \u201clisten to the scientists,\u201d he said. \u201cBut which scientists?\u201d the Journal asks. \u201cThe experts have been wrong numerous times\u201d and \u201coften disagree.\u201d And shutting the economy \u201ccan be more costly than the virus.\u201d During President Trump\u2019s six-week shutdown, \u201chospital beds in most of the country remained empty,\u201d yet 30 million Americans filed for unemployment. Delayed medical visits and being \u201ccooped up at home\u201d are leading to other kinds of deaths. \u201cA president has to consider the larger national interest, and that means listening to economists and health experts beyond epidemiologists. Mr. Biden\u2019s comments misjudge the duty of a president.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservative: Why Dems Home In on Character<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Donald Trump gives you every reason to believe he\u2019s not a good person,\u201d admits Scott Jennings at USA Today, but \u201che has delivered on deeply held Republican priorities and offers a reasonable center-right path for the nation,\u201d as well as producing a strong economy and major Middle East peace progress, even as he stands up to lawless rioters and China. Meanwhile, \u201cJoe Biden is clearly past his prime\u201d and may be unable \u201cto say no to the radical voices who want to control the Democratic Party.\u201d What Biden offers is \u201ccompassion at a time when we sorely need it.\u201d He \u201cwould likely bring relief to our national political exhaustion.\u201d So it\u2019s easy to see why \u201cBiden wants a pure referendum on Trump the person, never mind the policy implications of electing extremely liberal Democrats to high office.\u201d<\/p>\n

2020 desk: Don\u2019s Blockbuster Agenda<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Trump campaign\u2019s recently published second-term program, \u00adobserves Scott McKay at The American Spectator, is \u201cmore like a performance agenda, which talks about things people on the center-right would like to see.\u201d And that may be enough to deliver a strong victory come November. The agenda, stippled by bullet points, vows 10 million new jobs and 1 million new small businesses, thus presenting a \u201cbright-line difference from the nutty Green New Deal narrative the Biden camp is spinning.\u201d The agenda also promises a \u201creturn to normal\u201d \u2014 that is, the pre-COVID way of life \u2014 at a time when Biden and other leading Democrats are falling over themselves to prove their pro-lockdown bona fides. The document also \u201ctalks about fully funding police departments and putting more cops on the street,\u201d which, polls show, is a broadly popular position, notwithstanding media<\/a>-supported anti-cop radicalism. Bottom line: \u201cAn agenda like this can speak for itself and win.\u201d<\/p>\n

Russiagate watch: Clinesmith\u2019s Lied About Lying<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith\u2019s guilty plea \u201cencapsulates the mendaciousness and malevolence of both \u2018Crossfire Hurricane\u2019 (the FBI\u2019s Trump-Russia investigation) and the \u2018collusion\u2019 never-enders who continue to defend it,\u201d argues National Review\u2019s Andrew C. McCarthy. Clinesmith pleaded guilty to altering an e-mail indicating Team Trump aide Carter Page was a CIA source \u2014 but told the judge he \u201cbelieved the information I was providing\u201d was accurate. \u201cHis story is ridiculous,\u201d blasts McCarthy. The FBI team knew \u201cweeks before\u201d they app<\/a>lied for the first warrant that \u201cthe theory that Page\u201d was a Kremlin spy was \u201cuntenable.\u201d There are \u201conly two possible explanations for the FBI\u2019s failure to inform the court that Page was working for the CIA\u201d: \u201cwillful abuse of power or monstrous incompetence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Urban beat: Gotham Was Bound To Fall<\/strong><\/p>\n

At FoxNews<\/a>.com, Jessica Curtis explains why she \u201cfled\u201d the Big Apple four years ago, \u201cas many others are doing now.\u201d It\u2019s because, long before the recent riots, blue-state governors and mayors \u201cnot only cowered to anarchists but actively defended these radicals, instead of their own citizens\u201d and cops. Leaders like Mayor de Blasio, who \u201chas failed to defend his city and the NYPD at every turn.\u201d And remember, \u201cif Democrats can ruin New York, one of the great cities in the world, they can do it anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n
