Last week, the company said it expects to impose layoffs in the first quarter of 2023. <\/p>\n<p>Two big software initiatives under Bezos \u2014 who bought the paper in 2013 for $250 million \u2014 have been sidelined and could be sold, which has led some to \u201cwonder how invested Bezos continues to be in the property,\u201d Axios reported.<\/p>\n<p>According to Axios, Bloomberg, who is close to Murdoch, believes efforts to\u00a0merge\u00a0News Corp. and its sister company Fox Corp. \u201cwill fail, creating a possible opening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Activist investor Irenic Capital Management, which holds 2% of News Corp.\u2019s<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/companies\/NWSA.O\"> <\/a>Class B shares, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/media-telecom\/investor-irenic-asks-news-corp-explore-alternatives-combination-with-fox-2022-11-21\/\">said last month<\/a> that it would rather News Corp.\u00a0spin off\u00a0parts of its business, such as its real estate platform or Dow Jones, to unlock value for investors.\n                        <\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
