\n Starbucks is gulping hard.<\/p>\n

The Seattle-based java giant just announced that the pandemic will cost it up to $3.2 billion in sales in the quarter ending June 28. Its shares slid by more than 4 percent on the news<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But Starbucks has a plan to increase business in a post-pandemic world.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s leaning into a new type of store, a pickup only joint, that it has been testing in the Big App<\/a>le and in Toronto for the past seven months and had planned to slowly roll out over the next three to five years.<\/p>\n

Now the plan is to fast-track these stores, which are located near full-service Starbucks caf\u00e9s or can be added to those stores, the company said.<\/p>\n

In New York City, Starbucks will be adding a second pickup-only store near Grand Central Terminal \u201cin the near future,\u201d the company said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday. There is already one at Penn Plaza by Penn Station.<\/p>\n

\u201cStarbucks Pickup stores will.. better serve \u2018on-the-go\u2019 customers while reducing crowding in our caf\u00e9s, thereby improving the \u2018sit-and-stay\u2019 experience for \u2018third place\u2019 occasions,\u201d the company said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
