The story followed a group of boys and girls protecting the island of Tatsuyamajima from a mysterious enemy called the Festum, using humanoid weapons called Fafner.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The years between the original and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">BEHIND THE LINE<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> saw the release of the<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Fafner in the Azure: Right of Left<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> OVA in 2005, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fafner in the Azure: Heaven and Earth <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in 2010, and the 26-episode series sequel <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fafner Exodus<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> series in 2015. To commemorate the series\u2019 15th anniversary in 2019, the 4-episode <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fafner in the Azure: The Beyond<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> was released from May 17, 2019 to November 5, 2021.
