One Detroit renter in five <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/story\/news\/local\/detroit-city\/2022\/12\/14\/detroit-mayor-duggan-taps-leaders-for-office-of-eviction-defense\/69727955007\/\">faced eviction this year<\/a>, according to a report in The Detroit <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brownsville, Texas, ranked second. One-quarter of the city\u2019s population <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inforney.com\/texas\/brownsville-tx-ranks-as-one-of-the-poorest-big-cities-in-the-country\/article_bec350f5-6a30-54d0-a17d-5b8ca0f4b263.html#:~:text=Brownsville%20also%20has%20a%20higher,12.8%25%20of%20all%20Americans%20nationwide.\">lives in poverty<\/a>, twice the national average, according to a recent account in 24\/7 Wall St.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cleveland ranks third. Cleveland\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.news5cleveland.com\/news\/local-news\/report-clevelands-poverty-rate-improving-but-city-still-worst-in-u-s-for-child-poverty#:~:text=In%202021%2C%20Cleveland's%20overall%20poverty,below%20Detroit's%2030.2%20percent%20rate.\">poverty rate<\/a> is 29 percent, according to a report from WEWS-TV, making it the nation\u2019s second-poorest large city, behind Detroit.<\/p>\n<p>Ranking fourth through sixth were Gulfport, Mississippi; Fresno, California; and Laredo, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia ranked seventh. The City of Brotherly Love has logged <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fox29.com\/news\/philadelphia-500-homicides-2022-concerns-about-crime-gun-violence-continue\">500 homicides<\/a> in 2022, according to WTXF-TV.<\/p>\n<p>New Orleans ranked eighth. The city may have the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nola.com\/news\/crime_police\/why-new-orleans-murder-rate-surged-in-2022\/article_653b6cba-7d62-11ed-8eac-27a7b0ee2c95.html\">nation\u2019s highest murder rate<\/a>, with more than 250 homicides this year, according to a report in nola.com.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Los Angeles, for all its wealth, came in at ninth on the list of needy cities. More than 40,000 Angelenos <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thenation.com\/article\/economy\/los-angeles-homelessness-crisis\/\">live on the streets<\/a>, according to a recent report in The Nation.<\/p>\n<p>The nation\u2019s least needy city, by WalletHub\u2019s calculus, is the D.C suburb of Columbia, Maryland, a tony bedroom community in Howard County.<\/p>\n<p>Other cities at the desirable bottom end of the list include Bismarck, the North Dakota capital; Overland Park, the Kansas City suburb; Pearl City, part of greater Honolulu; South Burlington, Vermont, home to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vermont.com\/businesses\/ben-jerrys-ice-cream\/\">Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s<\/a>; and Irvine, California, across the Orange Curtain from L.A.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The WalletHub analysis singled out cities with high rates on specific measures of need. Rochester, N.Y., had the highest rate of child poverty, followed by Detroit and Cleveland. Huntington, W.V., had the highest rate of adult poverty, again followed by Detroit and Cleveland.<\/p>\n<p>Five cities shared the top spot for homelessness: Fresno and San Francisco in California, New York, D.C. and Honolulu. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/12\/21\/national-park-service-aims-to-clear-out-dc-homeless-encampments-by-late-2023\/\">Homeless encampments<\/a> have popped up around the nation\u2019s capital in the pandemic years. San Francisco leaders have faced <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/lawsuits-american-civil-liberties-union-0dca099e381ba0a4da9cffc82919215b\">legal challenges<\/a> for clearing their homeless.<\/p>\n<p>Gulfport, Mississippi, topped the list for food insecurity. More than <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/quickfacts\/fact\/table\/gulfportcitymississippi,biloxicitymississippi,harrisoncountymississippi\/NES010219\">one quarter<\/a> of Gulfport residents live in poverty.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>San Francisco logged the highest rate of homes with inadequate plumbing.<\/p>\n<p>Lewiston, Maine, headed the list of cities with inadequate kitchens, presumably a measure of available water and electricity, rather than counter space and cupboards.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
