Now the company is testing drone deliveries in two areas of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>David Carbon, the VP running Amazon\u2019s \u201cPrime Air\u201d division, announced on LinkedIn that the company made its first drone deliveries \u201cfrom our new sites in TX and CA.\u201d Amazon confirmed to <em>FOX 40 <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a><\/em> that deliveries are ongoing in\u00a0Lockeford, California, an unincorporated county roughly 40 miles south of Sacramento, and\u00a0College Station, Texas, home to\u00a0Texas A&amp;M University.<\/p>\n<p>Carbon said in the LinkedIn post, \u201cthese are careful first steps that we will turn into giant leaps for our customers over the next number of years.\u201d An Amazon spokesperson told <em>FOX 40 News<\/em>, \u201cour aim is to safely introduce our drones to the skies. The drone flies to a customer\u2019s backyard \u2014 so most apartments and condominiums are probably off-limits \u2014 then descends enough to drop a package, and flies away.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon has been working on drone deliveries <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/amazon-unveils-futuristic-plan-delivery-by-drone\/?tag=htgnews-20\">since at least 2013<\/a>, when the service was estimated to be \u201cavailable to customers in as soon as 4-5 years.\u201d The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vNySOrI2Ny8\">first delivery<\/a> was on December 7, 2016 in England, which the company says was a completely autonomous flight with no human pilot.<\/p>\n<p>Even with real-world trials ongoing, it\u2019s unclear if Amazon will ever roll out widespread drone deliveries. <em>Business Insider<\/em> reported earlier this year that <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/amazon-prime-air-drone-delivery-cost-63-per-package-2025-2022-4?tag=htgnews-20\">drone deliveries were costing Amazon around $484 per package<\/a>, and the company was working towards dropping that to $63 per package by 2025. The company\u2019s test trials also haven\u2019t been perfect \u2014 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/amazon-drone-crash-oregon-fire-2022-3?tag=htgnews-20\">one drone crashed in Oregon and set off a bush fire<\/a>, thankfully without causing any injuries or deaths.
