new record.<\/p>\n<p>The Tesla founder and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> owner has become the first person in history to lose $200 billion off his net worth, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-12-30\/elon-musk-becomes-first-person-ever-to-lose-200-billion?leadSource=uverify%20wall\">according to the Bloomberg Billionaire\u2019s Index<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The multi-billion dollar bloodbath comes after Musk, 51, in 2021 became only the second person to ever amass a fortune more than $200 billion, after Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.<\/p>\n<p>Musk, whose net worth peaked in Nov. 2021 at $340 billion, has seen his wealth plunge to $137 million as Tesla shares have plummeted 65% in the past year.<\/p>\n<p>It has been the electric carmaker\u2019s worst year to date.<\/p>\n<p>The decline included an 11% plunge on Tuesday alone after the Wall Street Journal reported that a surge in COVID cases had forced Tesla to billionaire thanked workers for their \u201cexceptional execution\u201d throughout the year while downplaying the company\u2019s dismal stock performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t be too bothered by stock market craziness,\u201d Musk said in the memo <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/12\/28\/elon-musk-tells-tesla-employees-to-ignore-stock-market-craziness.html\">obtained by CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we demonstrate continued excellent performance, the market will recognize that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk was s<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>ped of his title as The World\u2019s Richest Man earlier this month \u2014 with the baton being handed over to Bernard Arnault, losses are indicative of how high Musk and Tesla soared during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Despite owning just a small piece of the electric vehicle market, Tesla was valued at over $1 trillion by Oct. 2021 \u2014 joining other tech giants like <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le, Amazon and Google\u2019s parent company Alphabet, Bloomberg reported.<\/p>\n<p>But as competitors have quickly caught up and are challenging Tesla\u2019s dominance in the electric vehicle market, Musk\u2019s attention has focused on his newest venture as the owner and CEO of social media giant Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>According to Bloomberg\u2019s wealth index, Musk was forced to sell much of his Tesla stock this year as a result of his mammoth $44 billion purchase of Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Musk also currently owns a $44.8 billion stake in his Space Exploration Technologies Corp \u2014 about 42.2% of the company, according to a recent filing reviewed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> outlet.<\/p>\n<p>Since his headline-grabbing Twitter takeover, Musk has taken major measures to cut costs at the social media company.<\/p>\n<p>He has slashed about 75% of the 7,500 employees and is closing the company\u2019s Seattle offices after reportedly refusing to pay rent.\n
