The actress had already established herself as a movie star in such films as <em>The Princess Diaries<\/em>, <em>The Devil Wears Prada<\/em> and <em>Brokeback Mountain<\/em>, and she scored her first Oscar nomination, for best actress, with 2008\u2019s <em>Rachel Getting Married<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Oscar gold would arrive five years later, with Tom Hooper\u2019s big screen adaptation of the stage musical, in which Hathaway, as a starving sex worker, erodes onscreen, losing her hair and teeth, croaking out the heartbreaking \u201cI Dreamed a Dream\u201d before dying. Her performance was hailed as a standout among an all-star cast led by Hugh Jackman and featuring Russell Crowe, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried and Helena Bonham Carter. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cHathaway dominates, belting out anguish as the doomed Fantine,\u201d wrote Todd McCarthy in his <em>THR<\/em> review of the Universal film, adding how she \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>ly gets down and dirty and has her hair clipped off onscreen.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Hathaway fought hard for the role, which her own mother had played years earlier in the Broadway production\u2019s first national tour. \u201cMy mom and I were talking about the idea that Fantine has lit a match, and she\u2019s just watching it burn down. And she needs to blow it out and let in the darkness,\u201d Hathaway explained at <em>THR<\/em>\u2018s Actress Roundtable in December 2012. For the 13 days she was on set, Hathaway essentially starved herself (\u201cexisting on scant servings of oatmeal to lose 25 pounds,\u201d as <em>THR<\/em> described it), in addition to working with a researcher on sexual slavery to immerse herself in the role. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <em>Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/em> was nominated in eight categories at the 2013 Academy Awards and won three.
