Some believe that this makes it difficult for normal people to adopt or secure their Bitcoin. <\/p>\n<p>In a post, a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> user was shocked by the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>, believing that not many would be able to help the developer and that \u201cthere&#8217;s little hope for most.\u201d They tweeted: <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">You&#8217;ve definitely been one of the most security conscious folks I&#8217;ve known in this space, so this is a little shocking.  I&#8217;m not sure many would be able to have useful insight, unfortunately.<\/p>\n<p>If this can h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en to you, there&#8217;s little hope for most people, sadly.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jason Hughes (@wk057) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wk057\/status\/1609631249315799041?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 1, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>Other community members echoed the sentiment and highlighted that if it could happen to Dashjr, there <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thebtchodler\/status\/1609614663993417729\">would<\/a> be \u201cno nope\u201d for their grandma. A Twitter user also brought mass adoption to the conversation. They <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CatOfWallSt\/status\/1609753793314557953\">believe<\/a> that if a top Bitcoin developer cannot keep his wallet secure, mass adoption is a &#8220;pipe dream.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Bitcoin analyst Namcios <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/namcios\/status\/1609699078916694018\">believes<\/a> that these sentiments are not a fair assessment of the situation. The analyst highlighted that though Dashjr has a high level of Bitcoin knowledge, this doesn\u2019t mean that he cannot make mistakes. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">1\/ This is not a good take. And CZ retweeting it is bad.<\/p>\n<p>It *sucks* this happened and I feel very sorry for Luke.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s not black &amp; white like that.<\/p>\n<p>There are levels to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Bitcoin<\/a> security and often we concede on the convenience tradeoff.<\/p>\n<p>It seems\u2026 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jYcKEtTlUm\">pic.twitter.com\/jYcKEtTlUm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Namcios (@namcios) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/namcios\/status\/1609699067038146561?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 1, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao also <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cz_binance\/status\/1609663902610034691\">responded<\/a> to Dashjr\u2019s Twitter thread asking the developer if there\u2019s anything that the crypto exchange can do to help. Zhao also promised that their security team would monitor the assets and freeze the BTC if any of them got deposited into their crypto exchange.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Crypto self-custody a \u2018fundamental human right\u2019 but not risk-free: Community<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Nov. 14, the Binance CEO recommended self-custody only with small amounts as mistakes could get \u201cvery costly.\u201d Zhao described self-custody as a fundamental human right and urged the community to make sure to do it right. Apart from Zhao, Microstrategy chairman Michael Saylor also discussed the merits of self-custody amid the FTX collapse.
