Without mincing any words, Mekhi made it clear there never would be.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit\u201c200\u201d\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cSometimes it\u2019s just best to leave it alone. Once you make it a classic, no reason to fool around with it,\u201d he said, while also confirming that there was never even a discussion about a second film.<\/p>\n<p>When the interviewer noted how interesting it would be to see Eminem\u2019s character evolve in a sequel, Mekhi agreed \u2013 but still kept himself and Em out of the conversation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt could be interesting, but I wouldn\u2019t be in it and I\u2019m sure Eminem wouldn\u2019t be in it either,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/share.tmz.com\/watch\/2022-12-15-121522-mekhi-phifer-1532920-503\/\" width=\"560\" height=\"395\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Coincidentally, Mekhi\u00a0 almost wasn\u2019t even in the first one, revealing in a 2014 interview that he considered passing on the role because the movie seemed cheesy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was interesting because when it first came up I was like, it sounded cheesy,\u201d he told <em>The Breakfast Club<\/em>. \u201cI was like, \u2018Nah.\u2019 And I was due to start <em>ER<\/em> actually right before the movie started. And I was like, \u2018Nah, I\u2019m just gonna start the show, man.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p>But after reading the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a> and meeting Eminem in Detroit, Phifer was in. He would ultimately go on to star in <em>8 Mile<\/em> as Future \u2013 a character loosely based off of Eminem\u2019s best friend, Proof.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wasn\u2019t stressing it, but what I did was I read the script. And the script was real slick,\u201d Phifer said. \u201cAnd then they flew me to Detroit. And then me and Em just got together and just started building. You know what I mean? And I was like \u2018Yo, I like this cat.\u2019 You know? And then Curtis Hanson, dope ass director. It just all came together. You know what I mean? And we kinda wanted to be true to\u2014Cause it was loosely based on Em\u2019s career and Em\u2019s life and Proof\u2026And I felt honored\u2014especially R.I.P to Proof. Being able to show him in that light. Cause I thought the movie was real slick. And I had fun portraying him.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit\u201c300\u201d\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mekhi Phifer also starred in the 2002 cult classic <em>Paid In Full <\/em>with Cam\u2019Ron, and unlike <em>8 Mile<\/em>, there were talks of a sequel in 2020. Cam confirmed on Instagram that conversations were being had at the time, but earlier this year, Dame Dash said not to expect any of the original cast in <em>Paid In Full 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re too old,\u201d Dame, who produced the film, said on Shannon Sharpe\u2019s <em>Club Shay Shay<\/em> podcast in March. \u201cThey\u2019re all 50 now. We\u2019re going to make <em>Cocoon: Paid In Full<\/em>? It\u2019ll be what? <em>Paid In Full: Nursing Home<\/em>?
