Bitcoin volatility may return in \u2018catch up\u2019 with gold in 2023 &#8220;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<div class=\"post-content\" data-v-6ed77c39>Bitcoin (BTC) volatility is declining on schedule but BTC price action could still \u201cplay catch up\u201d with gold this year.<\/p>\n<p>The latest data and analysis show that despite sideways moves in Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency is behaving as expected.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"BTC_price_volatility_follows_bear_market_pattern\"><\/span>BTC price volatility follows bear market pattern<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>With traders frustrated by a lack of tangible moves on BTC\/USD, volatility is under the microscope at the start of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>For analytics resource Ecoinometrics, however, there is nothing to worry about \u2014 Bitcoin is becoming more stable with time, and this is a feature, not a bug.<\/p>\n<p>In <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ecoinometrics\/status\/1609932292327342080\">Twitter comments<\/a> on Jan. 2, it <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ecoinometrics\/status\/1609932292327342080\">stated<\/a> that \u201cso far the pattern of less extreme volatile events as Bitcoin matures is confirmed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An accompanying chart of Bitcoin average one-month realized volatility distribution came with a de<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion of BTC being \u201cdeep in a bear market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The data showed volatility ebbing at identical points in every four-year halving cycle, making 2022 firmly fit the trend of volatility decreasing more in each bear market year.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-01\/e985af1d-b121-4ed9-95f8-b5522c7d5fb5.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Bitcoin average one-month realized volatility distribution chart.
